OUT NOW JID - God Does Like Ugly

Added to Calendar: 08-08-25

I definitely don’t expect that Clipse feature. That shit was dope, especially how he connected the dots with him going to Hampton university and what not.

The album overall is good. I didn’t understand the purpose of having westside Gunn host the first couple tracks but ok. I’m on the last track and off first listen, the songs I fuck with are:

Glory
Wrk
Community
What We On
Wholeheartedly
Of Blue
K-Word
For Keeps

Definitely gonna be playin this more this weekend

this shit's fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiire!

Been runnin’ thru this since Friday….dope fuckin’ album…I fuck wit’ it a little more than Alfredo 2 and a little less (not by much tho) than Let God Sort’em Out….

JID’s pen game and flow need to be studied lol

This album is phenomenal, period!

and true say, JID deserves to be in the conversation among today’s top rap artists on reputable hip-hop platforms right now

The crazy part is he basically created this and The Forever Story at the same time. Like, nigga WHUT?!?!

That boy ain't playing

I know I've said it before, but JID reminds me so much of KDOT. Not so much in that he's trying to be like Kendrick. He just share some of the same attributes that I like in Kendrick as an artist.

K-Word is a good example. It's one of my favorite tracks, and it's one that I couldn't see coming from anyone else but maybe Kendrick.

That was my initial issue….Cole wanted to sign Kendrick so bad that he signed someone who sounds similar to him. It took until his last album for me to give him another shot. He still sounds similar but it is what it is.

I was literally just referring to him as ATL Kendrick. They definitely share some similarities.

I wanted to like this album alot and the first 6 tracks are flames but....
Once we get to SK8 it just takes a sudden hard left and the album veers off. From SK8 onward it just got pretty fuckin mid. The album doesnt pick back up til we get to On McAfee. I get what he was trying to do with those songs in the middle especially SK8 but they just werent executed well. JID aint the kinda guy who can make those kinda songs that can live on radio or in the mainstream arena. Almost feel like he got lucky with Surround Sound lol

Overall 7/10

i agree that the vibe was different after SK8 but i was feeling it. and i generally don't like the softer or dance type tracks from rappers. imo they were a nice change of pace even though i probably would have preferred the straight bars JID
