you gon have to expound on this

Ok yeah, so there is a condition called Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome. It's based off years of research and is a diagnosis. There are a lot of things that we as black people do that we are not aware of. Colorism, for example. Since birth we've been brainwashed to think lighter-better. And although a lot of us are awakening there are some thingS that are harder to get rid of than others. Especially since we are continuing to see this image being portrayed on TV and other forms of media. That's just the tip of the iceberg. It gets deeper than that. But to scratch the surface, there's no denying it is a major issue in our culture. For example, when you watch TV, do you realize that you are seeing 99.9% white people. I mean I know people know this but have you ever really just THOUGHT about it. Think. If you turned on your TV and when you began flipping channels, you see BLACK, BLACK,BLACK.. oh a few white people here and there. We are so brainwashed that we dont even question that. We dont find it odd that there is basically white people on every channel with a black person sprinkled here and there. That's Normal to us. If it was the opposite do you think white people would take that shit?! Hell naw, they dont even like it when someone changes a character out of a book into a black person. We are brainwashed as a people. This colorism thing ain't going nowhere soon. But once we at least see an issue as a collective maybe then we can begin a healing process and begin to get rid of all the generations of manipulation and deceit.

well thats not hard to believe b/c white people make up the majority of the population and own all of the major outlets in which media is distributed

i'll entertain that colorism exists, however, in this very thread, not one single person said "i only date lighter skinned people"...Kandy has a preference, but she didnt say she exclusively dealt with caramel colored men. Nothing wrong with liking what you like

but when you blatantly discriminate on the dumbass logic that you will ONLY date a particular type of female b/c of her color, thats where i get triggered

see young berg when he referred to women as "dark butts"

Go to jamaica and one of their biggest products is bleaching cream and it's majority black people.

And actions speak louder than words , foh with that "i love black people, i have 2 black friends" / "i love dark chicks, but my list is all light skin chicks" , nobody's buyin that shit fam.

A dude can like what he like.

I don’t really like super dark chicks or high yellow chicks.

I have dated both before I just prefer that pretty brown skin

I brought up the point of white Media not to just point out there is an overload of white people on the big screen and little screen, but because we as black people don’t see it as odd or don’t have an issue with it. We see it as normal. We should be UNCOMFORTABLE, just as most, naw not Most, ALL of them would be uncomfortable and act a fool if roles were reversed. It was just one of the many examples of how, in my opinion, we are brainwashed. and some things don’t need to be said, actions will show the subconscious desires. I’m js.

I see it as par for the course. I'm outraged but at the same time, I'm not surprised.

Until we have more to celebrate than black panther, it's going to be an issue for the foreseeable future.

Focus

I, nor anyone in this thread has denied that colorism exists. The point you keep harping on is people blatantly disregarding one spectrum of brown in favor of another one.

I'm not saying that doesn't exist either, but that's not what's going on in this particular discussion in this particular thread

How do you think racism works? Do you think for racism to work a racist has to be vocal about it?

Focus fam, you're in denial my nigga.

No one has blatantly put any spectrum of brown down in this thread. That's my point

Let me ask you this. If your mom was light skin... With her being the first woman you came into contact with for the majority of your upbringing, would you correlate your preference in lighter skinned women to your mother's complexion?
