This Generation Is Soft Pt.3438098: Ari Lennox Says Martin Roasting Pam Hurt Her Feelings

On a side note, sensitive black people always amaze me. I went to mostly black schools coming and they were brutal. My homeboys went to different mostly black schools in different parts of the country and had the same experience. Basically, you can get roasted for being short, tall, skinny, fat, dark, light, smart, dumb...basically, if you're not in the middle of every spectrum you're going to catch hell for something. So coming up knowing you can catch it over anything at anytime seemed to toughen us up. Like you can't hurt my feelings with words. I've heard every joke you can come up with. It amazes me to meet someone who grew up around black people but is sensitive about something or has some kinda complex. I'm like "How did you survive?"
Co muthaphuckin sign homeboy. My highschool's name was Booker T. Washington. All black with maybe one or two white boys that you rarely saw. On the bus ride to school someone was always getting roasted. You had to be quick-witted and thick skinned at all times. It somewhat baffles me when I see a sensitive black person when it comes to getting cracked on.

I said in my first reply she should have talked about this in therapy

It was some boys at my daughter's summer camp that were picking on or "bullying" my daughter and her friends.....so much so that she didn't want to get outta bed one morning...

So i sat there with her for 30 minutes and taught her the art of roasting someone into submission....

She was laughing so hard, she hopped out the bed and couldn't wait to get to school to with the tables

It's now 3 little boys named balloon head #1 balloon head #2 and ballon head #3

Her and her friends refuse to call the boys anything other than balloon head and their designated number....

One if the boys started crying, and another doesn't wanna be friends with the other two ballon heads any more...and my daughter and her friends couldn't be happier.

They're 8

Go to the 40 second mark where she says she wasn't able to fully appreciate Pam's beauty because of what she was being fed. If you've got a different interpretation please share.

That’s not what she said. She said the exact opposite.

‘Pam was so fucking beautiful and so fine. And just feel that growing up as a chocolate girl, like j dont even know if i was able to understand the greatness of Pam cuz of the light that i feel like i was being fed.’

Seems pretty clear that she thought Pam was beautiful.

Ok. So swap out beauty for greatness. She still said she feels she was being fed something. That aint on the show nor the responsibility of the show to feed her.

What really doesn’t sit well with me in terms of this woman Ari Lennox, is that I personally believe that she didn’t take any of the positives that Pam had because she’s truly one of these women with very low self-esteem. I’ve always believed it over the years, but she just has such a low perception of her image.

Pam was beloved on the show Martin. She was the one that essentially had every single character flirting with her. She never just sat there and let Martin diss her without having a comeback of her own. Which is why I say she has a low perception of her image, because I’m not saying you can’t associate yourself with Pam when it comes down to Martin making fun of her, but how come you don’t connect yourself to Pam when she would make fun of Martin back? Martin does not have a line that is as funny, as when Pam made fun of him when they were snowed in at one episode and called him a little leprechaun and then said they’re magically delicious. I lost months off my life laughing at that line.

As far as jokes, please I urge all of you to teach your children how to be quick witted and make fun of people. My parents did the same and that shit helped and still helped.

Exactly lol while Pam got jokes about her natural hair, synthetic hair and consistently compared to a wild animal
And Martin got jokes about his height and looks. They gave each other the same jokes. Meanwhile both was successful

Gina got jokes from his mother and neighbors to the point she was crying

but yea let’s just focus on just the jokes Pam got about her hair and looks even though all the men wanted her in the show and not the jokes about Tommy, Cole, Martin, and Gina short comings physically because that all that matters right?

It’s either the full issue on how the show took jabs at all folks physical limitations/shortcomings or not.

Can’t complain about jokes that she perceived as bad and say all the other ones is okay. Thats selfish and highly hypocritical and I hate that.

This discussion seems to be all over the place. I didn't think people's issue was that she didn't think Pam was beautiful. The problem is that she is projecting her insecurities onto the show. She said she thought the jokes were disrespectful to black women. People disagree with that because the jokes had nothing to do with Pam's dark skin.
