Regulation is the price for ignorance and a lack of accountability. The internet should be a completely open, free, unregulated and uncensored space. That's what it should be in an ideal society. Collectively we are too greedy, ignorant, envious, and lustful for such a space to not lead to our destruction. Its unfortunate.

Lol I thought everyone on this site would love this is policy. So many post about protecting children
They do. There's a thread somewhere where a lot of people on here were happy about the age verification laws

A bunch of sites just banned states instead of applying it. And people are strangely okay with the government overreach while claiming it's to protect kids

Parents should just parent better

You have to prove you're 18 to view the content upload documents or face scan. You can't just tick a box anymore..

Nothing is getting banned if you really really want to watch porn and not use verification processes just use a VPN

And it's crazy that people are actually ok with uploading documents

VPN is to circumvent the ban...

LMAO i don't understand a law I have read? Are you even British?
Yea you don't understand because the entire point wasn't even about only the UK doing it. US states did it as well

You say just use a vpn to gain access to porn as if that's some great solution. Perhaps parents should parent better and there wouldn't need to be this law anywhere in the first place

Have you read the policy, and do you know why it was created? I get the feeling you haven't

That's your counter? It's an extremely broader approach to censorship than what the states have

It's supposed goals are to prevent porn access to kids, kids from hurting themself, bullying, child abuse, and the usual severe stuff that you don't normally get access to unless you know where to look

UK's is much stricter than US but that's expected really

Parents should still parent better. Nearly every device connected to the internet has parental controls. Plus there are software programs that have been out since the beginning of the internet to prevent kids from gaining access. There are tools that parents are too lazy to use

How often are parents aware what their 12yr-16yr year old kids are going through at school or what they are feeling emotionally??? No matter how good you are at parenting, kids just arnt going to tell their parents everything...

Theres been cases of kids going on sites to learn how to commit suicide or being encouraged to...

I don't have an issue with kids having some restrictions on what they can view, as they have way to much stuff at far too young at these days...

There are numerous software and parental controls to use without having to create a law that impacts everyone else

They had all these tools when I was growing up. I think back then it was called the nanny program or something. Schools had a firewall where you couldn't view certain content online. And the tech has only got better over the decades

Lmao we always broke past the school firewall or internet provider. I am sensing a theme here

Kids have access to phones, tablets, laptops etc plus most kids are waaaaay more tech savvy then their parents and probably their teachers too...

Hence why most will just get VPNs but atleast the younger ones will be protected...
