COMMUNITY United States Politics Thread: Trump's Second Term

Last 16 years? Let's try 406 years. I'm not gonna repeat the same talking points, but long story short we had to fight fresh off the boat just to be secondary citizens. We're supposed to care about world issues when we don't even care about ourselves. Look what's going on in this thread... instead of roasting a 79 year old sex offender with 34 felonies, linoleum skin and a bad tupee prolly made in the 80s, we attacking posters who come from the same struggle with different opinions. George Zimmerman, Sandy Hook, the Libya conflict and a myriad of other atrocities happened under a Black president. All we did was have the same circular arguments, put on performative protests and go to the booth every November to vote for the same ppl that been fucking us over behind our backs. We had BOTH Biden and Kamala in office, and they watched Israel commit war crime after war crime without so much as a wellness check. Kamala wanna talk about a punk ass housing tax credit, but is OK with signing off billions for a genocide. Telling someone they HAVE to vote in any particular time is literally some Diddy shit. But in this time period where indoctrination and misinformation is at an all time high, foreign relations are becoming increasingly hostile and our ppl are left to fend for ourselves while being expected to fight other ppls battles... that shit sounds like a threat. Why are we supposed to have blood on our hands for a lawmaker's ego when we can fix issues in our community ourselves? Let me reiterate: I'm not missing NXT just so some old ass politicians can throw a parade and go right back to fucking us over. Fuck a tug of war.

You're standing still in a tug of war and you think niggas are listening to your protest?

At the end of the day, you are a member of this society and you are participating. So you might think explaining how you are not participating is making some sort of point but we're all staring at you standing still while everyone around you is pulling.

You ain't doing shit.

Non-voters keep Kamala's name in their mouths but they never have smoke for Trump and when they do speak on their Orange Idol, they are passive as fuck.

Bunch of bitches.

I have a job, I pay taxes, and I help out in my community when I can. I just gave a woman $5 for some food. I have done enough for this country. Can I do more? Maybe. I could join Greenpeace or start a family band that tours the country and gives out free pizza and hugs. The ppl are what makes this country, and last time I checked the government consists of ppl too. If they can sit there and watch our community corrode during the crack epidemic, AIDS or COVID, that says more about them as ppl. Do you keep screaming at them til you replace them with even more incompetent ppl? Or do you lead by example and live your own life to the best of your ability?

We forget that we're ppl and not just empty votes. Putting all this shit on us undermines our purpose to live and whittles our existence down to an opinion attached to a vote. If you wanna casually debate political points, fine. But there is no grey area to debate. Trump is a piece of shit, Biden/Kamala were too weak to stop him, and everyone is stepping over each other trying to gain some moral victory from what's going on now. This isn't a tug of war, it's a literal war. MAGA wants our ppl as subdued as possible so they can rule without resistance. Voting for weak ppl just because they're from a different political party isn't gonna stop them. And fighting other ppls battles isn't gonna get us any further than where we were 400 years ago.

And fuck Trump. Nigga couldn't stand in front of 12 ppl to explain why he bought ass with campaign money. Fuck I look like holding him to any standard.

You don't see it, but you dissed and celebrated yourself in the same post...............

Also, you keep saying we and talking about Black people like we are not actively part of the American democracy. Newsflash. We are.

There's a difference between talking about activism and actively ignoring that the people you are supposedly speaking for and not acknowledging that they are not bystanders.

Stop talking about Black people like we're all just sitting on the bench. How can you claim to be a working tax payer and also make excuses for why you should not participate in a democracy that you are admitting to already be participating in?

I wouldn't call people who advised others to vote for Kala a stan. If anything, the Stans are the people who are too stupid to see that they have been had.
Thats not what im talking ablut..You really boiled it down.. im talking about people who yan her like Beyoncé or are so enamored with the girl boss bullshit those people didn't vote that done it's over relitigating the election is pointless we cant go back

I have to pay taxes. I don't have to vote. Part of American democracy is choosing when and when not to vote. I voted for John Kerry in '04 when I was a week away from turning 18, I skipped both Obama elections and I voted for Hilary in 2016. Cops haven't knocked on my door yet for those missed elections. It seems like only we (yes, I'm gonna keep talking about Black ppl cuz that's who's predominantly on the site) have to be pressured or coerced into participating in an otherwise trivial sociopolitical tradition. "Vote or die", "get your booty to the polls", "if you don't vote for me, you ain't Black". Why does something so simple as electing government officials have to be a life or death situation with us? They did the same thing with religion, and the churches profited while we were getting killed in those same neighborhoods. We fall for the okey doke all the time... we try to assimilate with a social infrastructure because it made us feel good for a week, only for it to spit us back out. All that's fine and dandy, I been done with being everyone's answer to their problems. My issue is you're picking a fight with ppl that either voted for Trump or didn't vote at all, and not trying to understand why they made that decision even if you disagree. It's been said before, but a lot of conversations aimed our way have been dismissive or outright disrespectful. Communication is key to strengthening our community, and we lose the plot whenever we talk to each other like this. I come to this thread to laugh at the stupid shit this administration is doing, and I gotta read a bunch of "bBbBUt kAmaLAAA" posts. And there's no real rebuttals when they respond... just name calling and reactions. Either @ the ppl you have issues with and troll with your chest, or link up with ppl you actually agree with and come up with a solution. Til then, I'm gonna continue to pay my taxes and enjoy my Tuesdays relaxing at home or getting to this shmoney.

They really did a number on you. Using right wing talking points in the disguise of defending and supporting Black people is a tale as old as time but I'm sure you know that. Or actually, you wouldn't..............

Relitigating the election is not pointless. The same people that claim that they don't give a fuck a struggling to explain what they even stand for. They just want to close their eyes and say move on because they can't logically defend their actions or in this case, inaction.

Could it be that other races don’t have to be convinced to vote? They understand the importance of it and we’ve become cynical about participating in a system that’s abused us since its inception? Or are we victims of disinformation and misinformation?

Did black people not die for the right to vote? Were they not beaten and abused for that right? Why did they think it was important enough to die over but now it’s not? What changed?

Good points. I will say that American citizens have their right to vote and express themselves politically. I'm not knocking that, I'm just explaining why I don't vote. I'm just saying my personal reasons are parallel to a lot of Black ppls reasons, which centers around being Black in America. First off, other races for the most part don't have the same dark origins as us. They came here voluntarily in search of a dream. They have a greater appreciation for the voting process than we do.

Yeah, we gotta weed thru a lot of misinformation about the government. But I still feel like our anger and cynicism is justified. Kamala reminds me of one of my case workers when I was a foster child. She seems to be a genuinely sweet person. But it broke my heart when she tried to pass off that housing tax credit thing as reparations. That in itself reminded me of my abusive foster mother that would do the bare minimum to feed me and I was supposed to do a Catholic prayer over my food and accept it. Oh yeah, they really "did a number on me" alright.

Am I not supposed to be jaded by the government's apathy towards humans, let alone Black ppl? Am I not allowed to express my dissatisfaction for both candidates and sit out an election? Again, I'm not saying ppl shouldn't vote. But it seems like our right to choose is becoming antiquated due to the chaos created by our government's decisions. We are literally being threatened into the voting booth by an apocalyptic future. MAYBE I'll look into the midterms if there are candidates appealing enough for me to get my vote out. But for now, I understand that the war is on and I accept whatever comes with not participating in an otherwise standard election process.
