OUT NOW Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Added to Calendar: 04-24-25

Battle system is unique with the skills/picto/lumines and parry dodge etc, when you get it right it feels rewarding.

The storyline and soundtrack are great.

The customisation of builds is nuts you can do some insane setups, solo builds and synergy builds.

The game is just all around great, it’s a linear game in constrict but the maps don’t feel linear a lot of stuff is easily missed and the world map is pretty big.

Can’t praise it enough if you’re into old school final fantasy games you will enjoy this game. Shares similarities but altogether totally different.

say no more. I think ill cop this next week and see wassup

I think that on my first playthrough, I’m not gonna worry about builds and shit so much

wait wait wait.. this one of them souls type games? I thought yall said it was a turn based rpg

😬 :yikes2:
Everyone references souls like these days when they find a boss or area difficult,
You got 3 playstyles:
story (easy)
Expedition (normal)
Expert (hard)

On easy you’re basically just playing for the story.

normal the enemies will beat you down in areas if you advance to early or just try brute forcing them, some need a more tactical approach.

Expert you better be good at parrying.

Games far from a souls like, are some enemies hard? Yes.

Do you constantly get battered in maps till you learn enemy placement and attack patterns? No

Like I said if you’ve played old final fantasy this game is in that bracket.

I’m still on first playthrough I’ve put 60 hours in so far just exploring and collecting shit, I read if you do direct run it’s around 30 hours. I feel like you’d miss a lot of content if you just burned it in that time.

I’m constantly chopping and changing setups, still haven’t found a style for certain party members yet as been more focused on other members etc. it’s a lot to configure if you wanna do those ridiculous nuke builds but that ain’t my playstyle.

Yeah that min max shit can make a game no fun. I’m just trying to take my time and explore what the game has to offer.

I'ma take a break from NCAA 25 and play this

I have my gripes with gamepass that I'll save for another thread

Got it downloaded last night pending if I have time today might give it a little run. I can’t tell you the last time I played a RPG game besides Fable on original Xbox so this will be interesting 😂.

I’ve finally met someone who has me thinking maybe I need to alter my build substantially but I’ll give it few more tweaks and try’s see if I can bypass without it.

played a lil bit of it today. decent so far. Im aite with the doge.. I be gettin my ass kicked tryna parry tho

I’m a parrying fool. That damage is too crazy
Started out with mainly dodging but my parrying has improved a lot over time, some of the fake before attacks catch me off guard still but better to play to the sound for parry timing rather than animation, I altered all my sfx etc to put action sounds clearer to help with it.
