Fragrance thread

Are you decanting all 4 into one bottle??? Why not just keep them in their separate vials...
I did all 4. I thought about just doing 2 so the others can stay in the vial and keep fresh.

You need LV special atomizer to use those vials. The tops don't come off and the hole is designed for inly their atomizer. I paid for the refill at $160. If I did the one that came with their atomizer, that would have been $345, which is the same price as their 100ml bottle.

Ahh right, LV making sure to try get every penny off their customers...

Damn the refills in UK are 'only' £120, Trump tariffs hitting fragrance already??? lol

IMO buying a full bottle of any fragrance is probably irresponsible if your rotation is 10+
I feel like I should be offended by this statement lol

Is there a price cap? Yea, but I wouldn't agree with this statement depending on the fragrance we talking about.
$250 for me. The only one I made an exception on was Golden Wood by harmonist. I usually don't pay full price for a bottle so it is rare i go that high. If I can't find them on my go to sites or a travel size, then i will pay the full price.

There's definitely a price cap for fragrance. I don't care which house it is, nothing is worth $500+. Especially something that's as mass marketed like LV.

Exactly, especially mainstream houses like you say... as the ingredients that are really expensive in perfume, such as oud and ambergris, the big houses use synthetic alternatives...

Smaller houses use synthetics also

Of course they do, all houses have to use synthetics... The leather smell for instant is a synthetic molecules...

Im saying most big houses dont use materials like real oud or ambergris or even oakmoss etc, they use synthetic alternatives because a) its too expensive or against IFRA to use the real thing b) materials like oud and ambergris are limited and rare so for big houses to source enough to sell 1million bottles a year for years is extremely hard and expensive, you would find it hard for every single batch to smell the same or within a certain metric especially when/if you have to change suppliers and c) big houses are IFRA complainant so they cant use certain ingredients like oakmoss or mysore sandalwood anymore, so they use synthetics to replicate the smell... In Tom Ford 'Oud Wood' they might use 0.0000000000000000001% real oud just for legal reasons...

What I was saying earlier is niche houses such as Les Indemodables, Bortnikoff and Papillon etc do or can use these materials and they concentrate on quality rather than keeping accountants in offices happy, so I can see why their fragrances are often upwards of £250/£300 (though i would never pay £500)...

Big houses just take the piss with prices these days because they can, its basically the sneaker game...

I added a few new things to my modest collection over the past 10 days.

Kate Spade sparkle...this one is delina DNA 🧬 with a sugary sweet vanilla base note. I bought her $25, but it projects and leaves a scent trail like a $250 bottle of fragrance no joke and it LAST. This scent has been in my robe for like 3 days.

I got a 30 ml of million gold woman. I loveeeee. I wore this 3 times last week, which is rare for me.

D&G l'imparatrice royal is a much better version of the original.

I got the Ellis Brooklyn travels because I feel like I need a fruity tropical scent for summer and both of these fit the bill, but I don't need full bottles of both because it's not a scent profile I would pull for often.

I'm also on the hunt for a new fresh clean scent for summer. I tried a sample of Imagination on Saturday and that's gonna be a pass. I smelled like an absolutely fantastic smelling man 🥴

Nice pick ups, Tay...

I was given a sample of D&G Devotion yesterday and reckon its right up your alley... Pretty sweet and gourmand with a strong rum kick, nice female summer scent...

I bought Mind Games Blockade today (travel size).
My Ex Nihilo Blue Talisman (10ml) came in today as well.

I think I'm gonna return the Mind Games. I think my mind tricked me off the first smell last week. When I sprayed ot again at the store, the hype I had for it was gone. It is a good smell but I don't think fruity is for me. Smells feminine to me. I looked online and most say it smells masculine. I don't know, fruity just always seem to smell feminine to me. Im glad I tried it again at the store before I opened the box.

I have been trying many summer time fragrances for the first time. I think winter fragrances are better. The summer time ones don't last that long and are a lot lighter. I dont think going niche with summer time frags is worth it. Not at those price ranges .

I tried greenly by parfumes de markey. Smells great but the performance is not that great.

Hawas for Him is absolute flames

I bought a few weeks ago but forgot I had it

And very budget friendly price point

Yeah theres alot more variation and dimensions with colder weather fragrances for sure... Theres no limit to what ingredients to use and far more genres to choose from (leather, incense, tobacco, oud etc)...

Whereas alot of summer fragrances are pretty limited to citrus type ingredients, which like you say are alot lighter and are often 1 or 2 dimensional...

Theres still some great summer fragrances in the niche market but I do think theres alot more skill in making winter/autumn/spring fragrances though... And therefore more bang for your buck...

Some recent picks ups...

Been wanting to try Knize Ten for ages, a classic leather and the first or one of the first of its genre...

Ive never been able to try the vintage but they sell the current formulation in 30mls on their website which is handy, so I blind bought that and a 15ml splash of the newer 'Golden Edition' version too...

Not given them a real try yet but I did have a little spray of K10 and from little test I had it seems a pretty realistic leather, reminded me of a really new pebbled leather bag or wallet...

And somemore vintage miniatures...

Ask Grok to find one that smells similar to the scent you like but longer lasting, this has worked extremely well for me

So i went to one of those Arabia kiosk when I was at Pentagon city mall. I heard good things from Lattafa. Apparently they make clones but they are really good. Prices are excellent. I tried Najdia and man this smells nice. Summer fragrance. Got great reviews on https://www.fragrantica.com

It even came with a perfumed deodorant. Think I paid around $60. It was a sell.
