What Is Silently Killing Society?

Social media is promoting pretty much everything wrong with society today and the younger generations can't seem to see that. You have 20 year olds believing their life went wrong somewhere 'cause they're not a millionaire living in a high dollar condo, driving German luxury whips with a McLaren in the garage, a closet full of luxury names, eatin' at Nobu a few times a week, flying out to foreign destinations all the time, and they believe this because they view life through the lens of social media on their phones day in and day out. The same phone taking up all their free time, same phone telling them how to think and what to think about. They can't live without it; misplace their phones and panic and anxiety immediately set in and a frantic search for it begins like a basehead that lost their last rock. Can't even put it down while doing things that require their full attention like driving, working, or school...

Yeah, those two.
 
Things is.... Society as a whole isn't getting dumber
. Technology is still advancing. It's just the masses easily distracted by bickering over trivial matters.

Society is most definitely getting dumber.

Folks outchea can't write a complete sentence without AI's help. Can't hand them a piece of paper and a pencil and figure out a simple, 4th grade math problem. Folks out here actually, factually believe the earth is flat. There's people in this country that genuinely believes that chocolate milk only comes from brown cows. This AI integration into everything will lead to dumber and dumber people because they will no longer have to think or know anything; AI will do all of the thinking for them.

We're getting dumber at an alarming rate.

This is what's projected in social media. The masses have always been slow. But the scientific developments keep evolving. Technology keeps getting better. Advancements are growing at an exponential rate. You can't be so distracted by the simple shit that you miss the important sky happening in the background.

The people creating those advances are in the extreme minority.

Those "advancements" are coming at a human cost. We have AI now, and everyone seems to think it's this great thing, but people are already becoming heavily reliant on it just to solve what should be simple problems. Those people no longer rely on their own brains to figure out what should be easy, and this will lead to the masses getting dumber and dumber, incapable of even the simplest tasks without the assist of AI.

How many of y'all rely on that instant spellcheck feature on your phones? I have it turned off on mine which forces me to think when I type something out.

Are we not having an intelligent conversation right now?

Are we not a part of society?

Just cuz a lotta people are loud and crave attention, they do not represent the whole.. There are plenty of intelligent people.... Enough that society will go on. Just a lotta dummies in the spotlight cuz they crave validation that many other don't really need bcuz their efforts speak for themselves.

For example, I'm not making a million social media posts every day trying to prove or get recognition for being a great Dad. In fact I roast my kids half the time. Does that mean unless I'm talking about it online I'm not a good Dad?

Just cuz that's what we see doesn't mean it's a true representation. Yes there are a lotta dumb people online. But there are a lotta smart people in my real life social interactions.

Entertainment isnt always reality.

But we are in the minority, @Duwop. Part of society? Yes, however the masses are overly reliant on technology to guide their very existence. I'm not even talking about social media right now, I'm just looking at how we've advanced technology to the point where society at large is losing the ability to think for itself. We have AI driven art, AI driven music, AI driven stories and "writings", AI to whatever you want and you don't think the masses that are using it are getting dumber because of it???

Think about how back inna day folks memorized phone numbers and now we can barely remember the number to the cellphone that's in our hand. And we'll excuse it by saying "well, its more convenient, technology is helping us that way". But is it really helping or is it a hindrance to what should be our ability to remember important things? As a society, we don't think much for ourselves, and that's a problem that's been brought on by the very technologies we exalt saying they've made our lives easier.

Put it like this, I just discovered this dude Mark Manson a few weeks ago when we were talking about stupid people. And he's addressed this mad times over the years. Dude has multiple books, millions of followers. Meaning millions of people know about this guy and have been discussing his points for years. I just missed it

Lord Jamal got his ass handed to him by a guy on flat earth who actually had more followers than Jamal, and I never heard of the guy either. But he has more followers and is way more intelligent then the guy I did know about in the discussion

You can't say Lord Jamal has a further reach than the dude who literally has more followers thanm.. Just cuz you're more familiar with Jamal.

So yes there's a lotta dumb people out there. But they are also a lotta smart people to, and while a lot of folks might also know any them... They can be overshadowed by the idiots based on what you as an individual choose to consume.

Like I know my algorithm is trash, cuz I'm always looking to be entertained. But if my daily pursuit was just more knowledge and philosophical understanding... My feed would be full of smart shit.

I'm not saying there's not a lot of smart people out there, I'm saying they're in the minority. Their followers are just that: Followers. They're people that like the content on some level.

I understand that, I'm just saying even though it's a minority, it's still way more people than we give credit to bcuz of how loud and bold the other side is.

Like there's mad people happily in relationships
. They just stay quiet and let all the single spiteful people engage in the daily battle of the sexes.

I hate making up percentages...

But it's not like 90/10

It's likely closer to 65/35.... The 65 just so ignorant it feels closer to 90 if you only looking from a surface value like social media is an accurate true representation of society
