You're entitled to that opinion. It's wrong, especially considering this movie and you admittedly not knowing what it's actually about, but you're entitled to be wrong

Lol ain't nobody coming at you. You said you still don't know what it's about and emphasized it like it was a badge of honor. I said you're missing out on a good film. You somehow took offense to that because you got an issue with movies that have vampires lol

^^^^ See that??? This is how you started the interaction. Not the way you're trying to portray it as if I just came out of nowhere and started talking shit.

Still... In 2025 I ain't watching no vampire or zombie flicks. I watched 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later. I ain't watching this new shit 'cause the whole damned genre played out. Nothing related to "The Living Dead", no more Evil Dead, no more none of that shit. I almost skipped the zombie episode of "What If..." for the same reason.

The whole vampire shit played out with Twilight. I half-ass don't even want a new Blade movie. The only reason I might tolerate it is 'cause it's MCU but beyond that? Fuck no.

PRAISE: Writer/director Ryan Coogler has so much to say in his new film Sinners it's almost an overwhelming experience. The story about 2 brothers trying to leave their troubled lives behind, they return to their hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back. I liked how Coogler slowly but surely added layers and history to the characters in the film. Michael B Jordan is definitely the standout in a duel role but the cast is so outstanding that includes Cast: Li Jun Li, Delroy Lindo, Omar Benson Miller, Jayme Lawson, Wunmi Mosaku, Jack O’Connell, Miles Caton, Hailee Steinfeld, and Yao. There are some extremely effective moments between the characters filled with stories of regret, loss and love. The sins the characters carry with them, those that try to cover for the sins committed with spirituality either from back in the day or the present featured in the film. A great job is done with the horrific imagery that includes fade away shots and gore. Coogler places legendary vampire lore in all the right places. I think the last time I tapped my foot to the music and was equally pushed to the edge of my seat during a scene was 1998's Blade. There are nice nods and tributes to various cultures through music and dance. The salty dialogue and raw emotion blend well together and is lifted by the reliable and then some cast. I enjoyed both after credits scenes but so many people left before the second scene and i started thinking it should have been placed right at the films final scene.

PROBLEMS: I thought some moments were overly convenient and are used just to get an emotional feeling from the audience. I wish the opening foundation scene of the film had been different. I have to start taking my own advice and stop watching the trailers for movies because the trailer for this film gave far to much away.

Scale of 1 to 10 an 8½

Had to wait a day to give my opinion on this movie. I went into the theater expecting a straight up old fashion horror movie with some black people woven into it.

The Good...
This movie isnt a horror movie it's a period piece that happens to have vampires running around killing people. To be honest they could left out the vampires altogether and substituted racist crackas in the Jim Crow South and this movie still could've hit for me. Coogler did his thing MBJ most definitely did his thing and goes without saying Delroy Lindo did his thing in the movie.

It was a ton of symbolism in the movie and you had to be paying attention in the movie to catch. The dance scene in the movie almost had me drop a thug tear because it showcased our heritage thru music. Also the way the music director weaved all the music into one song/beat was perfect.

The Bad.....

The only negative I have for the movie is and it's not really a negative and I get why Coogler did BUT......I think he should've kept the open scene for the ending scene and added Choctaw chasing after Remmick or maybe showing him escaping from them nothing major just him on the run and they're chasing him.

I think the opening scene with Sammy coming back to the church gave too much away and at least let audience know he survived. Besides that little nitpick movie was top tier

9/10 for me
