What Would You Make Legal/Illegal If You Had The Power To?

If you had the power to make anything legal or illegal, what would it be?

It should be illegal to falsely sue people. you're essentially lying on the stand

I would make it illegal for these software companies to only offer subscription based products. If they want to do subscription based, they also need to offer the stand only version. By that, I mean the software you can buy 1 time for a flat fee. Like how it use to be.

You can still buy MS office once... But no live updates.

I think that's fair

Some companies still do it but there are a lot that don't. I have MS 365 since I use Word almost everyday and I am not always at home when I use. That is the only product I dont mind doing the subscription.

I'm really considering flipping to the standalone Office joint. I get 365 with my domain and email, but for what I've paid over the last 4 years, I prolly coulda bought the shit 2-3 times over already.

A kid cleaning tables off at a restaurant at 12-14 I see no issue with

Helps the household out and builds character and helps prepare for the world

Answering phones and taking orders at that age gives them a huge advantage in the customer service world. They'll be much more seasoned when it comes to job interviews and speaking to the public going forward in life.

Said it in that thread for the kids working at that factory but a kid starting to work at 13 could have 7 years of work experience at age 21

Not to mention savings

I’d make it illegal to make annualized games where your progress and virtual currency is not passed over to the next game and shutting down online servers of said game to force consumers to upgrade

I think planned/forced obsolescence should be illegal. Like what Microsoft is doing with Windows 11 in cohorts with Intel. There's no good reason why so many PC's out there won't be able to upgrade to Windows 11. Sure, staying on whatever version of Windows is on it is an option but it's risky from a security standpoint, but at a minimum M$ should be providing security updates for older OS'es in perpetuity or make it so we can install newer OS'es on old hardware like they used to do until Vista. I have several good machines and none of them, except for one laptop of mine, can have Win11. Linux or a BSD is also an option but you lose access to a lot of software and games going that route.

A lot of companies do this and it just creates huge amounts of e-waste.
