in terms of popular music prince michael and madonna dropped timeless classics
then you got stevie wonder, whitney, george michael, phil collins, tina turner revived her career, luther, anita, sade, new edition, kool and the gang, rick james
u2, guns n’ roses, bruce springsteen, bon jovi, billy joel, lionel richie
let’s be real here…1990s was monumental for hip hop, yes…but overall music. 1980s reigns supreme and it’s not even close
to me
70s for me. Any decade that had the isleys, the ojays, Curtis Mayfield, the Spinners, stevie wonder, al green, the stylistics, earth wind fire, Aretha, and marvin gaye all at their peaks cannot be topped.
If the only thing you listen to is "black music," I could definitely understand putting the 70s at #1. That said Hip Hop is my favorite genre, so even if we're talking black music only, I'd rank 90s above it.
For me:
80's
70's (thought the more I listen, the more I'm willing to put it at #1)
90's
and the rest of them shit.
I've been getting into psychedelic soul and rock, prog rock, and even disco lately, The 70's had FIRE in them albums.
If it was on the list, the late 60's was giving birth to a lot of heat too, and I'd prolly have it tied with the 70's. I copped this last week, it should be arriving by tuesday
