Are You Participating In Today's National Blackout?

As someone whose participated, mobilized and put together other protests that lasted longer than a day lol I think the idea of a 1 day protest is a waste. Especially one where it was advertised as "Get what you need the day before....and then resume as you wish the day after the protest."

If you're gonna protest, you gotta go all the way. This is cool in theory for those who are just starting out and wanting to get involved in something. But again I dont think a one day dropoff is gonna hurt these big money corporations at all especially when you dont plan on extending your boycott anyway.

With that said, I will participate cause its just in my nature already to protest but I dont feel good about the fact it'll be back to our regular schedule programming afterwards. I guess something is better than nothing. Folks should be buying black all the time tho, whether they are boycotting big retail stores or not.

Niggas can't unify for shit. It's not just about today and even if it was it seems the point is lost already.
Yea its was. Its literally a 24 hr protest

Yall sound like niggas that don't vote and criticize others that do but don't actually have any solutions beyond that.
I voted for Kanye West sir.

And i gave a solution.... a longer boycot than 24hrs lol

Surface level thought process. This was a simple task.
I accidentally "participated" because i bought gas yesterday. And dont need to buy anything today. So yes it was a very simple task.

SamsClub/Target/WalMart were all packed today tho so im sure it was unnoticed by the businesses

The point of today was to see how many people could mobilize over 24hrs to achieve a goal. If you can get people active for just one day you can take on stronger initiatives down the line which was the plan. There are other and longer blackout dates to follow.

Yall bringing up the fact it's only one day as if yall would be more down if it was a week which is harder to do. You niggas would just find more excuses not to participate.

You sound ignorant. It's not doing what you think it is.

The Kanye vote tells me all I need to know and concludes our conversation.

The solution is not a one day boycott. The solution is to stretch it out for as long as possible. As @GOAT already said: One day is meaningless to these billionaire corporations, especially if the people stocked up by shopping at these very same stores in the lead-up to the boycott. Shit, this week could turn out to have been even MORE profitable for them because of that alone. What needs to happen is an extended absence from these places; boycott them for months. Let earnings drop off the map for a whole quarter and see what happens; better yet, 6 months to a year. But niggas are too comfortable to go without for that long or to spend a lil extra by shopping Black and local.

We could even extend it further by not shopping with them parasitic leeches in our communities: Indians, Aye-rabs, and Chinese/Koreans.

I have no problem with unifying, but do it the right way and for the right reasons. This shit here is neither.

Yes. I also haven't bought anything from Target or Amazon in a month...Walmart in about 2 weeks.

I believe the plan is supposed to be to keep doing these blackouts, not just a one time thing
I seen that theres a schedule and some months theres week long protests. Thats fine but folks need to just commit and go for it all. Cause theres already people who dont spend their money at these places at all. So it isnt impossible. Just need more people and more discipline.

It is being done the right way. You guys are failing day 1 cause you can't see the forest for the trees.

Today was not about hurting corporations bottom lines.

If you can't tap in for a day without complaining how are you going to tap in for 7 days or more?

If the point was a "show of force" by the American people, but muhfuckas went out and rushed these very same stores all week so they didn't have to buy anything today, or are waiting until tomorrow to go back to these very same stores then you did NOTHING.

It was supposed to be an economic show of force, to demonstrate that people "have the power" per the originator of the boycott. It failed before it even started for the very reason I stated above. There is no show of force if you go out and compensate for that one day by overspending before or after to make up for it.

You just made this scenario up out of thin air. Anyone moving like this is an idiot.

Target can kick rocks. I didnt really patronize that store like that in the first place so its not much effort for me to not step foot in there again
Walmart is the same for me. Not sure if some folks know that Sams Club is also owned by Walmart.

Amazon would be a bit more challenging to boycott but it wouldn't be impossible
