Has anyone ever been able to hurt Superman without Kryptonite though? I guess Darkside, but I’m not sure about anyone else. I’ve never followed Superman comics very much.

me either but if it wasnt kryptonite I think it was either darkseid, somebody using magic or another person from krypton that fucked him up.

I think I remember from the cartoon that character parasite giving him some trouble too
 
There was a period of time at the end of the new 52 where superman learned a new skill called a solar flare i think it was called, but it took so much energy that he was in a weakened state for a decent chunk of issues. Not able to fly anymore and not nearly as strong. He was like captain America status wearing a t shirt and jeans just getting fucked up on the regular. Of course he got his powers back eventyally and I'm sure they retconned that power by now.

Pretty sure they're changing up his origin from it being an alternate-universe being. He'll probably be a creation from Lex. Could be merging Ultraman and Superboy's origins

I THINK Superman ends up losing that fight because he's locked up at some point. Maybe Lex hits him with a krypto bullet on the way to escaping and lands outside the fortress? James Gunn said All Star Superman was a big influence on this film and in that story Superman develops a higher resistance to Kryptonite. The robot he's speaking too also is a part of All Star Superman comic🤔
