1 Corinthians 6:16
[16] Or do you not know that the one who joins himself to a prostitute is one body with her? For He says, “The two shall become one flesh.”

Called that man a ho in the most spiritual way possible lol.

Lol, he could be talking about his relationship to Lucien or his baby momma.

Or both relationships.

On a deeper level, he could be talking about why Future, The Weeknd, Kanye, Metro and them, don't fuck with him no more.

That's probably one of the coldest verses in the Bible.

I fux with it.
This one doesn't feel like it would be a chore to listen to again.

I think Kendrick doing blood a favor. Every dude that gets at drake tells him the people around him don't like his ass.
Shit might be true man
:ohshit2:

I don't need or expect people to catch everything. Just need them to stop bastardizing the art form acting like there's something wrong with trying to find the hidden meanings.

Metaphors and similes built the genre and it's golden era but look at the discourse on here now.

There's a place for all of it and there's also a way for it to be two things at once. People act like if the music has some depth to it you can't still lay back and catch a vibe.

The example in the tweet for instance. Encore comes on and I zone. After all this time it isn't even about the lyrics. It's about where it takes me.

NY State of Mind in the early 90s took motherfuckers from Iowa and let them know how it felt to catch a New York City subway train or walk the block to the corner store. Lyrics be damned. The emotion and soundscape took you there. We gotta start making folks respect the culture again.

There's nothing wrong with deep diving into lyrics. But we all know when folks are just gassing shit and creating it out of their own hope of something being there. Its why people clown Lupe fans. It's why the whole "Backpack rapper" thing gets jokes. It's why people who love those types of artists above all get so disappointed when they find out somebody like Phonte loves a Waka Flocka song as much as he might love a KRS One song.

People take the ability to want to find those hidden meanings as some sign of intelligence. When in reality for many as has been said most simply don't care enough to dig that deep. As you said it's normal for 2 things to coexist in the same song. But when folks start thinking they're smarter because they want to deep dive vs someone who just wants to enjoy a good song...that's where the pushback comes from too.

He's also rapped about struggling being black enough...but y'all dont like when it's used to diss him.

Nigga please. People been having a battle of the biracial discourse for days over that shit. Y'all gotta stop with this blind fandom shit and just accept that not everyone is gonna like what you like. This song, both sonically and content wise, actually would have been a better diss to bring that up. Because it ties into that fear of being betrayed by people for being seen as a fraud.

Look up Plato's argument against poets in The Republic and his charge against them is the fact they don't state facts but give people feelings that mislead them. People still told stories and songs without the printing press. There's famous in their own time ancient poets and storytellers set the foundation for storytelling and poetry.

And if you really think music is a mindless endeavor for the listener, look no further than the spread of drill music across Europe and how serious they take it.

Lol, a catchy song with a good beat inspires murders across the world.

The idea that art is an escape is just baffling when nobody actually takes it that way.
Recently I have also, come around to entertainment is not an escape. I might start a thread on it

i didn’t say half of what you are saying.

music has always soothed the soul and help escape the harsh realities of the material world

whether it was those building the pyramids and singing or the slaves in the field singing negro spirituals

if plato says otherwise then i disagree with him as well

as far as drill music killing folks and so on, of course that is true…i never said it wasn’t

but at the end of the day. i applaud your tenacity and desire to read and argue your point even if you’re insulting while doing it

have a good day

Entertainment was never meant to be escape.

People really need to look into the history of entertainment and statecraft.

Entertainment is social engineering at the highest level.

Black Americans have a history of being used in politically messaging.

During the Cold War, Jazz was used to subvert the Soviet style communism.

The CIA made Hollywood put Black American background actors in movies before the end of segregation to promote the USA as a fair and equal place.

People need to think harder about what they watch and listen to lol.

Lol, bro all I'm saying is in a battle there really ain't no boundaries. But for some reason that touched a never with a lot of people. Like you said tho, in this one he touched on something Drake struggles with and I'm saying he did also in the last one. Nothing more, nothing less.

Hopefully Drake drop something before the day over with. Will make for a entertaining weekend imo
