This is why I think it's better. It's more pointed at breaking down Drake and the paranoid mob boss image he's created. Hard to keep that up when it clear his own team is helping this takedown. It's basically Kendrick saying "You got the life you rapped about. Now here's how that story typically ends."

I don't need or expect people to catch everything. Just need them to stop bastardizing the art form acting like there's something wrong with trying to find the hidden meanings.
Metaphors and similes built the genre and it's golden era but look at the discourse on here now.
There's a place for all of it and there's also a way for it to be two things at once. People act like if the music has some depth to it you can't still lay back and catch a vibe.
The example in the tweet for instance. Encore comes on and I zone. After all this time it isn't even about the lyrics. It's about where it takes me.

It can be a mix. There's times I wanna be impressed with a lyrical exercise. Then there's times I just wanna hear a good song and don't really focus on the technical ability of a rapper or artist in general. And people pretending like it's all or nothing are lying to themselves pretending they only listen to super lyrical stuff all the time. If they are then their music is probably boring as hell
