I find myself among the few unimpressed by this move. The EP is great, and there's no doubt about Drake's rapping skills. That wasn't the problem of FAMD because we already know what he is capable of.
What's frustrating is the apparent compromise of music quality for sales, a move unnecessary for someone of Drake's calibre.
Whether it's rap, pop, R&B, or any genre, it should be crafted with the highest quality, especially for an artist like Drake. These attempts at catering to a younger audience with 'teeny-bopping' tracks seem unnecessary and flat-out weak. Drake, being Drake, would've secured the top spot regardless. Why not produce good, quality adult contemporary music? It doesn't make any sense.
Joe Budden had to step in and son Drake to growing up. And the joke is, even when Drake caught feelings, he ran back to the studio to make this. So what was all that long paragraph of emotions and comparing his success to Joe's for?
