PLAYSTATION PlayStation 5

It'd be different if you didn't have to be on the same wifi to use it. Don't see why you'd use it instead of just playing on the console

You don't have to be on the same Wifi. You can be in a hotel across the country and use it.

PlayStation Portal is the perfect device for gamers in households where they might need to share their living room TV or simply want to play PS5 games in another room of the house. PlayStation Portal will connect remotely to your PS5 over Wi-Fi**, so you’ll be able to swiftly jump from playing on your PS5 to your PlayStation Portal. PlayStation Portal can play supported games that are installed on your PS5 console and use the Dualsense controller. It also includes a 3.5mm audio jack for wired audio. PS VR2 games, which require the headset, and games that are streamed through PlayStation Plus Premium’s cloud streaming, are not supported.***

That doesn't say you have to be on the same WiFi.

While your home Wi-Fi network represents a great option to use PlayStation Portal™ Remote Player because you have control over the quality of your own home Wi-Fi, it is not required. PlayStation Portal™ Remote Player can also be played wherever you have access to broadband internet Wi-Fi with at least 5Mbps for use1. For a better play experience, a high-speed connection of at least 15Mbps is recommended. If you are using public Wi-Fi, be aware that the quality of the internet connection may be out of your control, and could impact the quality of your play experience.

And for those that don't know, you can already do this using Remote Play. Outside of the handful of people that need a dedicated system, these seems like a completely useless peripheral.

Did they change it? Oh well. That's great they allow you to be anywhere. That was a negative from the articles I read before

I never thought it was loud enough to hear in other rooms lol

8TB SSD seems insane but with the size of these games nowadays I guess it's not really lol sounds expensive as hell though

Searching for games in your library sounds great

Neat that the optical drive just slides in. Never cared about the size or weight of the console. It doesn't get moved around enough for me to care

Price increase is funny. There's a debate now on if they'll release a pro version still
