FEATURED Nicki Minaj's Husband Sends Threats To Offset On IG Live... Grab ya glocks when you see Tupac

I agree with that. I also agree that some negative things may start in certain areas and spread to other areas because of the imagery in rap. For example, maybe twerking was only a thing in strip clubs and at certain parties, but rap and social media made it more mainstream and at some point you had young girls from good homes twerking everywhere they go. That's not good, so we all agree rap can have a negative impact. I just disagree with some of these people acting like rap is a primary or driving factor for all the depravity in our community. It's not.
... and don't get me started on Scarface!
i feel you. always thought many rappers had it all wrong when they spoke of rap having influence but then contradict by saying it doesn't influence where casualty is concerned. influence is everywhere. guys put loud mufflers to emulate speeding race car power or wrestler fighting moves or some martial arts moves, steph curry 3 pointers, magic johnson no look passes. anything has the capability to influence anyone. we're all made open like that. recently them 2 dudes that mowed down the officer on his bike...was that Crazy Taxi or Grand Theft Auto influenced? yeah, it's a be like Mike conundrum in this bitch with a lot of denial and shirking of responsibility. but there is a little cultural influence that clashes because twerking's been going on in African dance.

the bolded did all happen over the music tho...................and Pac is a great example of how the music and the toxic culture around it accelerated the bullshit

Biggie and Pac met each other over the music

now if both of them did pop, country, or were gospel singers............what kind of street beefs do u think would've surrounded those two? u can argue that the toxic culture killed two of its best artists........yet u keep denying what's obvious

street politics only came into play cuz of that toxic culture u keep refusing to acknowledge 🙁

No street politics came into play because street niggas were involved. There's also been plenty of rap beefs that did nothing but result in songs. More than have resulted in violence or murders. Using a beef that started over street shit and ended over street shit as your example isn't working. Pac wasn't turned out by music. Pac by all accounts got turned out by the people he was hanging around which weren't music industry people but street niggas. Pac got killed not cuz of music shit but because he jumped a known shooter from a gang and got shot. That has nothing to do with music.

If you ain’t trying to go image/song for image/song just Let it go bruh

RAP IS TOXIC AS A WHOLE AND YOU CANT ARGUE AGAINST THAT.

You ain’t slick trying to use phrases like “toxic element” when I reality the entire genre is toxic.

Promotes violence and disdain for women and men.

The bold is ridiculous. So now we're saying ALL rap is bad?

What are you trying to prove by making statements that are demonstrably wrong?

Semantics Olympics. Just leave it alone @Dwayne

That nigga whole mo is always playing semantics and wanting everyone to be extremely specific. But when it's flipped and he gets told trying to deem 99% of something as a thing without actually having proof to back it up it's "semantics olympics". Hilarious...

No he wasn’t and all you have to do is research it. He might have been around it at one point in his life before death row or even being a rapper but he WAS NOT a gangsta / thug guy in the least bit.

So yes him getting shot both times was on some rap street shit because before death row he didn’t have those issues

Pac getting shot in NY was over a song? Or was it over him hanging out with some street niggas he was warned by multiple people, including other rappers,to not associate with? Did Pac get shot in Vegas over music or because he involved himself in a gang beef that multiple people told him to stay out of? Looks like if Pac had listened to rappers he'd be alive today.

I mean maybe you just have listened to toxic rap growing up. There's plenty of other rap out there that goes against your argument.
Bruh. It’s some remnants of good in everything don’t mean the overall “thing” is good.

It’s not plenty of other rap.

Like I said to black rain. For every “good” song you name it’s 100 more destructive ones.

These questions are for curiosity sake only. I'm only interesting in your answers, I have no intention of responding to them.

What makes a song destructive to you? Does any mention of drugs, violence, sex, etc... make it destructive? Or do you believe there is nuance in how those subjects are handled. For example, would you consider a song like Somebody's Gotta Die to be destructive. It's a violent narrative, but doesn't actually promote that violence. Do you hold other forms of media to the same standard? For example, do you consider all violent video games and movies to be destructive too?

It’s realism to music that no other form of “entertainment” has.

I talked on this before about the power of the spoken word.

Think of speeches and the way they can ignite or sway somebody that is listening to it.

Add a drum to it and now it’s even more impactful

For generations folks have given speeches and marched into battle with a drum.

The power of the spoken word in music has that realism that connects with people and shapes their behavior and mood.

You can try and compare movies but it don’t work. Think of the movie godfather and how many time you have watched that movie.

Now think of the song Hit’em Up and how many time you listened to that song.

You know the song word for word and it’s so programmed into your brain and can legit put you in a trance.

Companies use rappers in ads because folks follow them and want to do the things they do.
