Alexis Sanchez opens up Manchester United transfer and Arsene Wenger's desperation to keep him at Arsenal: 'You're the best we've got'

Speaking recently to Chilean media, Sanchez opened up for the first time on his Arsenal exit and how the club and Wenger tried in vain to keep him at the Emirates.

'He was very fond of me and he didn't want to let me go,' said Sanchez.

'He told me: "I want you to sign here because you are the best player in the team."

'I wanted to continue growing as a player, more so as a Chilean, because it's difficult to get to Man United.

'No Chilean had played here. Arsene understood it at last, we ended up on good terms, he congratulated me and there was no problem,' Sanchez added.

Arsene Wenger didn't want to scout Willian in 2006 - ex-Arsenal scout

Arsene Wenger passed on scouting Chelsea midfielder Willian in 2006, says a former Arsenal scout.

Willian has hit the form of his Chelsea career since joining the Stamford Bridge club from Anzhi Makhachkala for €35.5 in the summer of 2013.

Before that, Willian spent six seasons at Shakhtar Donetsk after signing from Corinthians in August of 2007.

However, former Arsenal talent-finder Daniel Musatti told ESPN Brasil that Wenger could have nipped the Ukraine club to the Brazil international's signature, but the Frenchman preferred another player instead.

"I did the report of Denilson of São Paulo that year, and shortly after he was sold to England," Musatti said. "The athletes were recommended by Wenger's chief scout to the scouts of Brazil, they were all pre-determined.

"I made the suggestion that we watched Willian and make a full report of him for the analysis of Arsenal's chief scout, but at the time I was told that there was no interest because they were looking at another player."

"They asked me to do a complete scout of Neto Baiano, who was at Paulista de Jundiaí."

Neto, now 35 years old, never moved to Europe and currently plays for CRB in the Brazilian second division.

20 wins out of 25 in knock-out European football since 2008 (i.e. over the last 10 seasons)
is clearly La Liga dominance over Prem clubs.

And you can't even say it's just Barca/Real doing the damage single-handedly. I count 8 different Spanish teams vs 9 different English teams

Update: just realised it didn't include Liverpool's thrashing of Real on that list

And only Barcelona and real Madrid have won it. Same with la liga except that one time atletico won it.

Will not even talk about the bias officiating in the some of those games

A 38 game league would be a true measuring stick.

Daum, no matter happened its hard to believe you would let your mother live homeless...

Damn, who is at fault for this? He kids? The agent? Her? this video of her putting her sons an agents on blast? To be continued on

Since 2008/09....

Champions League has been won by Barca 3 times and Real Madrid 3 times so you're right in that respect. a total of 6 of the last 9 finals went to Spain.
However 2 out of the 3 times Barca won it, was against English opposition i.e. Fergie's Man United (not this transition team) in the finals
Also more importantly 2 out of the 3 times Real won it, was against Spanish opposition i.e. Atletico Madrid. So let's not discredit those all Spanish finals.

UEFA Cup/Europa League has been won by Sevilla 3 times and Atletico Madrid 2 times. a total of 5 of the last 9 finals went to Spain.
However 1 of the 3 times Sevilla won it, was against English opposition i.e. Liverpool
Also more importantly 1 of the 2 times Atletico won it, was against Spanish opposition i.e. Athletic Bilbao. The other 1 was against English opposition i.e. Fulham.

The whole point of the European cup competitions is to pit the best of the best, and it's a fact La Liga teams IN BOTH European competitions have been dominating all other European league teams
