OUT NOW Nas - Magic 2

Just listening to it now, this sh!t goes hard...

Seems Nas was really focusing on flexing with his flow on this one... He sets the tone for the project with 'Abracadabra' right from the off...

Office Hours was crazy too:

'Hit 105 and did a crazy tirade
I'm surprised that I acted that way
A baby MAC-10, on my yak shit
Carhartt in the cold
Don't get confused or used or let them bother your soul
Rap what I live, I sleep good, I have no vendettas
We the reason you spell "NY" with capital letters, listen
And for those who want my position
You gotta step inside a time machine, come back with a vengeance
You should go study my analytics
I shouted people on verses that ain't deserve it
When it's turf shit, I stand on business
Shout to the ones that hold and gave passes
Could've been a lot of grave full of caskets
Damn, I'm a good guy
For that I think I'm blessed more
All these Fredos could've been added to the death score'

:readyforwar:

Top tracks for me:

Motion
Office Hours
Bokeem Woodbine
Pistols on Your Album Cover
What This All Really Means

Liked the nod to 'Fast Life':

'member I sat on Kool G Rap couch
Drank O.E 'til we coulda blacked out
He pulled the track out
Thinking 'bout what to rap 'bout'

Enh…off 1st listen it’s cool

I mean yeah…Nas can still rap his ass off and Hitboy has his crisp sound all over but like somebody said earlier it’s almost like a Nas/Hitboy fatigue…all tha projects have somehow melded together and it’s hard to really differentiate between them

Each project got songs that standout but it almost feels like some of these songs could be made by AI Nas and AI Hitboy

I’ll prolly listen thru tha day and then do like I’ve done wit tha rest…catch songs as they come up randomly on my library shuffle

I am still very impressed wit Nas’ work ethic/productivity this far into his career…salute to Son

Yeah that makes sense, could almost make a Nas/Hitboy 'Greatest Hits' with 10-12 banger start to finish...

I need to go back and listen to Magic 1 and the KD series but I feel like Nas was trying to flex with his flow on this one more than the others, the others like KD felt more about the content, like Death Row East etc

Off first listen magic 1 is better
This is more just a solid offering this time around didnt wow me like the last 3 Nas / Hit-Boy joints

This sounds like a magic album…

Nothing like anything on any of the kings disease albums… This shit hit different!

Last week I went back to KD3 and it sounds better than KD1 and KD2- (my opinion)… The production sound crisp and Nas is Nas-ing on that album…

Nas talking his shit on Magic 2 and flexing different rhyme patterns… Sounds like he’s comfortable and having fun!

The thing about Nas showing Pac hennesy was told on Math podcast by Wiz for 1-2 years ago.

Around halftime dropped 92-93

Michael was too churchy

I’m not mad at anyone who feels that Michael was too churchy. It certainly has that vibe throughout. Shit was hella soulful to me though. Production value, content and lyrics were A1. I actually felt like I was listening to a cohesive album that had time/energy/thought put into it. Haven’t felt that way about an album in a long time.

Magic 2 has about 4-5 standout tracks. The rest aren’t bad, but they feel like fillers/loosies.

Still happy to get new Nas music though.

Guys you know what? Nas son birthday today, Knight Jones born July 21, 2009. This album was for him. Thats the reason why he dropped it today.
