False

Listen to Living Proof , Suspended In Time and Superstar and see that Lil Dap had bars in there, enough to justify and make it good music. Nutkracker was a shade below average but thats where Preem came in and cleaned up with some of his greatest beats.

Group Home 'Living Proof' is the classic example of beats carrying mediocre artists

Canibus is the polar opposite... great lyrics with shitty beats

Dap & Malachi were competent enough
Their biggest "misfortune" is the era they came out in contending with lyrical heavyweights like NaS,AZ, Biggie,Meth,Red etc

So yall gonna act like Guru aint trash?

Guru was one of the GOATs in my opinion.

Original lyrics... unique style... pushed a whole new genre with that Jazz Fusion he was doing...

The last few years are a shame when he got messed up drinking too much and acting "cracked-out"...

I still don't know what the deal was with that "Superproducer Solar"... was he his lover (pause) or was he just some guy who had psychological control over a guy who was so messed up on drugs that he didn't know what he was doing...

Guru's whole death is mysterious... but that stuff he did with Primo is classic to me (and many others)

Agreed... but in that era, being "competent enough" wasn't enough... the standard for lyrics has definitely dropped in the past few years...

I have never heard or seen that nigga brought up in top 5/10 conversations. It's been over a year on here and I have never seen one poster bring that nigga's name up and he had a career full of premo beats lol U know how wack u gotta be to have a career full of premo beats and NOBODY brings u up in conversation as top 10?

This nigga is trash.

U can listen to this and CLEARLY see the difference between an elite MC and a nigga who's aighttttttttttt

I'm not saying Guru is Top 5 on the level of a Tupac or a Biggie.

I am saying he made his mark on hiphop in a unique way like an Old Dirty Bastard or a Busta Rhymes or a Scarface.

No one is ever going to say any of those artists are Top 5 lyrically but there are still all GOATs for their hiphop contributions.

This may be a controversial opinion but I always thought Jadakiss was overrated.

He had nice lyrics but that voice always bothered me.

And what was with that stupid laugh... out here sounding like a seagull caught in a bear trap? Fuck outta here...

Jada's not elite, can't make an album to save his life. He has elite skill but the music is severly lacking...

But you know all this...
