OPINION Is Marvel's Black Panther movie really a "special moment" for Black America??

I feel the movie is important because of the possible jobs it could create.

I seen somebody talk about Tyler Perry doing great things and creating work with his studio he built. I’m not a fan of Mr. Perry’s movies but I respect what he has done and where he came from doing it. I even respect the fact that his movies are overall positive.

But honestly his movies will never have global appeal like this movie has a chance to be. If Black Panther does as good as the projections are saying it’s going to do worldwide then more of the big studios will not be afraid to green light movies with a majority minority cast. More minority directors will get a chance to do their thing. Not to mention that some of these actors and directors will build enough equity to start their own studio like Mr. Perry has.

I’m rooting for this movie to do great because it could really open up a lot of financial doors for way more minorities and also help change the perception of a people worldwide.

There were two weird lookin white guys in the very back of the theater that just looked suspect. They were on opposite ends and they were both solo. My wife and I stayed looking back to make sure them muthafuckas ain't move.

We ain't even drink like we wanted to, cuz we were both pieced up, but it still detracted from the movie a bit. It's wack that we feel like that, but we know how white people in this country get down

Killmonger and T'Challa were not on opposite sides. The only reason they fought was because Killmonger was ready to go to war with the rest of the world that's been oppressing Black people.

Contrary to what Du said. Killmonger's goal wasn't about reconnecting with Africa. He already knew the language, the history, and the customs. His goal was connecting black people worldwide.

And guess what? In the end, T'Challa ended up doing just that, albeit without the violence.

Our people look so fucking good in African attire. Nobody was jumping up and down making a scene. We just came in, looked good, sat down quietly enjoying the film, then left.

I train our people in martial arts and firearms whenever I get the time. Our people (especially our youth) need to know how to defend themselves beyond just streetfighting. Cuz Billy Ray and nem been hunting since they were 5. We need our community to catch up.

I did the same thing when I was at A Birth Of a Nation. There was this old white guy who stayed through the whole movie, and there were these two white women. They had got up and left the movie though.

my 6 year old is a fucking savage....and i'm trying my best to teach this kid to keep his hands to himself, ... but i think i'm only getting so far, imma have to put him in structured martial arts class of some sorts...even if he's just wrestling....he needs to be physically humbled by kids his size.......dude gets into fights daily....it's to the point where if he calms down shortly after ...they will still consider a 1 fight or 2 fight day a good day.....


i mean i feel like he needs to know how to defend himself, but his chill is non existent.....i mean as an adult, knowing how dangerous this world is, you gotta be ready to go at the drop of a hat......if i'm chilling with my family and a threat presents itself, i have 0 hesitation with going all the way there instantly....so i totally feel my son's demeanor.... but that shit aint working out in first grade, lol
