For better or worse, they royal family is a symbolic representation of the nation. They are essentially an institution that has existed as a fundamental part of the nation for as long as it has existed and their lineage is directly responsible for the existence of the nation. So while adoring the people themselves is kinda weird, but showing respect for the royal family is pretty much the same thing as any other patriotic act. So I'm not saying that adoring the royal family is good, but it makes sense to some extent. Adoring people who have basically done nothing but be rich and use their riches to become richer makes no sense at all.
