I sided with Faizon about black ppl messing with Dave when DC2 popped off. Dave wasn't a draw among black ppl. What's wrong and false with what Faizon stated?

I'm not discrediting his come up, just making an observational statement about a certain part of his career. Anytime it's brought up it's labeled as "hating". It's not, it's no different than when it's brought up that Jay didn't get big til Vol. 2. That's not hating, it's true.

I said all that to say this, when Dave was out, around the Def Jam time, he was out before then, but for the sake of my point, he was not the nigga that everybody was fucking with. 80-90%% of those comics that I listed, were blown up in the black audience/market and had TV shows, movies, or appeared on outlets that majority of black folks fucked with.


You don't have the luxury of the internet to use with these cats that I listed and they were eating. You can't run to YT to watch clips of these dudes, you saw these dudes on TV shows, late-night talk shows, etc without the use of the Internet, thus my reasoning to saying that they got their shot.

Dave was not in that group of comedians and all of those comedians (with the exception of Kevin) were in Dave's class or around when Dave was doing his comedy thing.

That's the point I and Faizon was making, he was not that nigga while other comedians including Monique and Sommore, Adele Givens, were at the time. They all from the same class, years, pack. I don't think dude was hating, nor am I, I'm just speaking the truth about how the game was.

If you're saying that prior to the Chapelle show, Dave wasn't on the level of most of them dudes, I agree. I think everyone would agree with that. But that wasn't really Dave's prime. That was when he was on the rise. If you ask me how prime Dave stacks up with the rest of those dudes, I'd only put Rock above him. It's all a matter of opinion though. So it's all good.

For the longest time, I thought that was Chris Rock until about 7 years afterwards, when I noticed that was Dave Chappelle lol. That roast part will forever be legendary
 
I think people have been conflating Faizon Love saying Dave isn't funny with him talking about his come up. I think it can be agreed upon that saying he's not funny is just some hating shit, which Faizon Love has been known to do before. I think the discussion about just how big Dave was in the late 90's/early 2000's before CS is a moot point overall though. Why does it matter when he blew up? What point does it prove to say he blew up in 2004 vs 2001? Either way the nigga blew up, has his audience, and been eating ever since.
