Sounds like you are talking preventive action. Meaning your kid had previous friction with a group of kids. So you or some other people try to mediate the issue.

What if the group still went and jumped your kid? He doesnt see it coming. Should he/she still take the "L" knowing a wrong blow to the head can cause serious damage?

In theory I don't disagree with you which is why in my very first post i said the entire concept of jumping somebody 99.9% of the time a bitch move that garners 0 respect. But in practical application taking being jumped as an L you gotta eat without any retaliation isn't gonna happen as often as we'd like. Especially in today's environment where what's normally just a neighborhood conflict gets escalated the moment a phone gets pulled out and now the whole world can see said person being stomped out.

No doubt. Even if my kid is the shooter i would rather him not take a life to save his. Im not or will ever relish or celebrate death…but again…too many stories of kids getting jumped and not making it home…at that point his preservation of life >>>>

This is really nuanced. But all that nuance, in the end, leads to me feeling like the shooting was justified.

Justified doesn't mean ideal. Or that I wouldn't have liked to see it handled differently. Or that I don't feel sorry for the family of the kid who lost his life.

But this is one of those 'it is what it is' scenarios.

I was in China like decade ago. Me and my sister visiting my homie. First night we're there, we're in Beijing at this little open air bar/restaurant. At the table behind us, we see 3 Australian dudes arguing with 2 Chinese dudes. My homie like 'Yeah, this shit bout to get bad. We should move.'. Like 30 seconds after he said that, one of the Chinese dudes punched one of the Australian dudes in the face and all hell broke loose.

ALMOST EVERY CHINESE MALE, OF FIGHTING AGE, RAN OVER AND BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF THE AUSTRALIAN DUDES.

Put hands and feet on them niggas. Only left one of them conscious. My homie was telling me that it's kinda a thing, at least in Beijing, where if you see a Chinese person fighting with a foreigner, all the Chinese people present jump in that shit.

Sidebar: We was there with my homie's other homie, who was from Africa. He was like 'Yeah, they don't treat the Africans in Beijing like that. You know why? Cuz we fight like we possessed!'

I’ve been jumped on more than one occasion. Ive also been in a situation where it was like 4 vs like 40 and we still came out on top.

So normally Ima always go with the “hands” option. But the fact that there was more than one firearm on the scene tells me that kid %1000 did the right thing to make sure he made it home.
