It could be new experienced that they really enjoy or just trying to relate more to their new S/O.

Maybe, but on the other hand people are sacrificing their sense of self just for a relationship. Then months or years later when try to get figure out exactly who they are it disrupts the relationship. To their partner they are "not the person they used to be"....
