Welcome To aBlackWeb

Where do you honestly see the LGBT community's standing in Hip-Hop as we progress forward in the 20s and beyond?

Mister B.

The Devil’s Greatest Advocate…..
I know, I know, but I think it's time to really discuss this.

Artists like Lil' Nas X, Tyler the Creator, and others have made their mark, and while I doubt that homosexuality will ever be a prevalent thing in Hip-Hop, you can't deny that it's definitely no longer endlessly ridiculed and considered to be Hip-Hop's cardinal sin like it was 10-15 years ago.

So, where's the agenda going?

Only reason why homosexuals and gay trolling is allowed in Hip Hop because nobody cares about the genre or Hip Hop culture.

Hip Hop is Pop music and it's youth culture. By the time you hit 30, the genre is no longer for you.

Lil Nas X is the most popular rapper out right now, next thing you know there's gonna be a popular MtF transgender rapper, rapping about dick with Cardi and Doja Cat.

At most Lil Nas will open doors for more men and women to proudly rap gay bars. But at the end of the day it's still a minority subculture. So LGBTQ rappers might be hard pressed to come out with the gayness at the very outset of their careers for fear of being ridiculed or blackballed by haters. Lil Nas on the other hand grew so big the fame trumped his sexuality.

Cuz it's not like he started out with the gay stuff. Instead he had the fortune of becoming mega popular off of a chart topping crossover hit. The country influenced Billy Ray feature sealed the deal in America. It wasn't his gayness that won him his fame. But it won him distinction in controversy and daring after the fact.

Maybe in that sense he's a novelty act. A gimmick, as far as the industry is concerned. Who knows.

Hardcore booty goon rap.

Unfortunately, it's inevitable.

Already had rappers drop verses along those lines in the past.

Just a matter of time before someone takes it to the next level.

nh, but...............I guess it actually is.

Pause.

This is not true

Lil Nas X isn't popular... at least outside of twitter and the households of under 18 white girls. Bro has like 3 noteworthy songs over the past 2 years. I also don't think he's considered a rapper like that. But to answer your question I think that with the way the world is going we are bound to see more openly gay rappers over the next two decades. Possibly the same for athletics as well. Better keep your homophobia to yourself if you know what's good for you.

Well I’ve heard folks regular black folks say his album is pretty decent

I predict the death of hip hop as we know it. Just like Rock, hip hop is being broken down into different sub genres of what started as one thing. As time goes on, these sub genre will slowly die off, which will lead to hip hop dying off and it becoming nothing more than pop music. And the next generation will usher in a new wave of what’s to become the most popular music genre. Which will have its origin in hiphop but won’t be hiphop.

All of what you've just said has already happened as far as I'm concerned.

Guys, this newer generation weird.

They be all extra sensitive.

They introduce themselves to each other by their chosen pronouns and give eachother "trigger warnings".

Like peep it..first there was hiphop in general, then when then west coast popped it got spit to boom bap and gangsta rap, then it got southern hiphop got spit into trap, bounce, and club music. Then comes drill, now you got chi drill, uk drill, and my drill, and now there’s like 10 sub genres

This really has nothing to do with the topic tbh and Hip-hop has already outlived "Rock n Roll" by like 30 years lol. Music doesnt die, it evolves and branches off. By the late 90s we already reached the point where the boom bap DJ Premier heads weren't checking for Cash Money etc. There's like 100 subgenres of Heavy Metal music and that shit isnt 1% as popular as HIP-HOP

To answer the thread question tho, there will eventually be more LGBT rappers until nobody but religious weirdos and angry closeted niggas really care if a rapper is gay.
