This Afghanistan shit is getting crazy. On one hand Biden fucked this up. On the other though, I don’t really think we should have such a heavy hand in these countries. On the other, I feel bad for the people that have to live under Taliban rule.

It’s a fucked situation all around, but my base belief is that a country can’t be liberated unless it’s led by the people living in that country. Those afghans folded like a cheap chair as soon as we left it seems. Biden should have had a better exit strategy too though.

Wasn't it already started and happening under Trump?

Yes, but the full withdrawal happened under Biden and he should have handled it better. I don’t know if that’s a slower draw down, pulling in other countries to stand in the gap after we left, some kind of rotational occupation using allies, etc. I don’t know what the answer would be but the Taliban taking over Afghanistan with 2 weeks of our full withdrawal is crazy. We should have also known and probably knew the Afghans couldn’t stand up on their own ever.

Afghan had 15,000 troops, Trump brought home 12,500... Biden had 2500 troops left... it really was a sit and wait. But everyone knows our history with trying to nation build... shit usually a failure

True, I just think there’s a lot more risk with that last 2,500 because they were obviously a deterrent seeing what is happening now. Some other deterrent was needed if it wasn’t going to be troops. Again, idk what that looks like but I’m not the one getting paid to know, lol.
