In my view I always got the sense that the last 2 or 3 years the league was trying to push an international player to the be the face of the NBA because they want to expand. As a result, I always felt Giannis and his journey got a bigger push because of it especially when he won one of those MVPs over Harden. Even his moniker "Greek Freak" and now this title. I aint mad at it tho. Giannis is doing his thing no doubt.

no, the media hasn’t. Lmao

those guys that are getting love is due to them being really good. In my opinion the media in the United States is hella xenophobic and the sports media mirrors that also.

it was a good amount of big time sports media members trying to find any reason to discredit Giannis winning the MVP over Harden. Jokic this season was going against another foreigner in Embiid as the front runner for the MVP. you even had some media members trying to say Chris Paul deserved the MVP over Jokic this season.

Some Stupid media members were complaining and openly downplaying Toronto winning the finals a few seasons ago and don’t get me started on how a decent amount of the players openly have issues with foreign guys also. Lol.

I think if he keeps working on his handle and shot that he is gonna end up playing the 3 as opposed to a 4 or 5 spot.

dude is hella thin.

he makes Bol Bol look like Hulk Hogan

fuck him

Lol quick exercise

Name the 4 best American centers in order

Edit: I thought this was the NBA thread lol

If you answer me just put it in there

Bruh. He was just as effective on offense and 10x that on defense compared to Harden. Shit wasn’t even close and Haeden should 0 MVPs when you look at what a few other players did compared to him

NBA needs more dominant American big men

inb4 somebody mentions Chet holmgren lol
We stink as far as big men and the Olympic team is a perfect example. Also there's no xenophobia with these foreign players just an unfamiliarity with their games and the American born players have a better report with the media due to AAU circuits and things of that nature. NBA players seem to have cliques and were salty about Giannis turning down their workout invitations. Dinwiddie and McCollum made trash tweets but that doesn't mean the whole league is xenophobic because they're reluctant to give Giannis props

the whole league isn’t xenophobic, I agree. I also agree it is a lot of cliques. I also agree that Giannis from what he has stated (himself) isn’t the most buddy buddy as far as working out with non family or teammates

but……..

it isn’t a coincidence that a decent amount of the foreign born and raised players don’t get as much love via social media or publicly from their peers In the league.

This isn’t just new either, It’s historical. Not too mention how bad a lot of the media in the United States of America is when covering the foreign born and raised players in the NBA.

maybe with the players it has more to do with the cliques but a lot of guys are way quicker to give credit to American born and raised guys than they are foreign born and raised guys. I mean a ton of the players I’ve rooted for over the years have been foreign born and raised and I’ve seen the difference for many years with how they’ve been treated.
