If you're talking about "respect," ask yourself if black people respect ourselves by making songs full of that word and then selling it to others.

And no, don't tell me that those records are conversations among ourselves, within our community.... This music is blasted to every corner of the world. Parts of the world where they don't even have black people, they learn about black people from listening to rap music. And the music tells them that this is how we like to be addressed... and then we're gonna get mad at people for the shit that WE put out and perpetuate?

At some point, we gotta take responsibility for this shit. Do I enjoy hearing white people say the n-word? I do not. But as long as WE are promoting that shit in catchy-ass songs that people can't help but sing along to.... I can't get mad at them. It is what it is.

So what should these rappers do who make this type music? Just stop, go back to the trenches, sell drugs and keep killing each other. Black people turn the n word from a hurtful word yelled at slaves to a way of greeting each other.
