I laughed everytime i saw Snipes his hair was different every scene.

How about when he was telling the child soldiers the story of the Bunny and the Bear. Then sends them off "Good class today children. Okay go play now. Go and play with your grenades and Kalashnikovs. Sifo, dont play with the sarin... Okay it is DANGEROUS."
 
Snipes every time he made an entrance was hilarious

The fact that they still had Snipes sis aka "bark like a dog" lady still barking to this day... Great continuity

When Teyana came through the second time I was like "dayumn!", then for Lavelle to look back at Akeem and he was giving the slow head nod of approval... That's wassup!

All the ladies were fine.. Black Excellence

Random cameos like Rick Ross was silly funny

Overall plot was ass and it wasn't so much of a funny movie but rather a feel good. Too many callbacks to the original which is still a favorite of mine, made it hard for me see it as a standalone sequel... It was basically a soft reboot for these younger gen
 
And as funny as she was....I did not need to see Leslie Jones the whole damn film either....lol...idk if that was a running joke as well or simply a homie handout from Eddie.....Tiffany Haddish could've played the same role and been a looooooot better to look at lmao

That's interesting as well to me because alot of the film just looked really low budget(compared to the original)....I'm sure most of that went to the cast(I wonder how much that damn lion cost lol)and location but damn for as long as it took to get this out the story could've been better or the actual film could've been put together better in my opinion.

BUT finally a sequel !!


PRAISE : For years ,years and years i heard there would be a sequel to Coming to America (1988)
Finally in 2021 it hits the small screen due to our Covid times.
The story this time around Set in the lush and royal country of Zamunda, newly-crowned King Akeem (Eddie Murphy) and his trusted confidante Semmi (Arsenio Hall) embark on a mission to find Akeem's son !!
Murphy and Hall can still charm and get a laughs out of me here and there in the movie.
I have to say this was an ambitious effort by all involved .The set design is great and the costumes by Ruth E. Carter are incredible !! Great to see the old school cast together again.
The nods to the previous film and others were fun.I enjoyed and was surprised by the cameos.
There are some truly laugh out loud moments here and there. Actors giving it their all :KiKi Layne as Princess Meeka Joffer, Akeem's and Lisa's first daughter,Wesley Snipes (VERY FUNNY)as General Izzi, Imani's older brother and leader of Nextdoria,and Nomzamo Mbatha as Mirembe, a royal groomer and Lavelle's love interest.


PROBLEMS : When part of the story can only hold half my interest that's a problem.It seems like writers Kenya Barris,Barry W. Blaustein and David Sheffield just decided to throw in a little bit of everything to see if it would stick because there are music videos,dance sequences(I DID ENJOY THE LOVELY VISUALS) and the screaming of one liners throughout and when you do that you get a jumbled film.
Some of the actors/comedians are the same as they are in every project they are in...loud and obnoxious.
I have seen forced and fast tracked plots before but this film does it to a T !!
Definitely some dull and unfunny moments.

I give this movie a strong 2.5-3/5 not that good but not that bad either. Take out the useless musical parts add more Lisa and Big Les beefing, throw away the witch doctor, add some more stuff with the daughters and this would've been a 3.5/4 movie

i loved it. Wesley Snipes had me dead everytime he was on the screen. Everybody shitting on Akeem cause he had all girls

Them continualy pointing out Lavell was a bastard lmao

not to meantion the funeral scene
 
Leslie Jones and Tracey Morgan get a of hate... But they funny as shit to me.

Leslie definitely had more misses than hits.... But her hits be killing me. She was funny as fuck in this.

Tracey was funny too.... Not his best, but him and arsenio could have made that rilvay work a little longer before they patched it up at the end... Them niggaz was killing me
