In the comics, Monica is essentially living energy. She can manipulate and mimic any form of energy that exists and her cosmic awareness dwarfs Captain Marvel's. What she doesn't have is the strength that Marvel has. Captain Marvel, on the other hand, has super human strength, durability, and can fire energy blasts from her hands. Both can fly at light speed.

Interestingly, Monica's hairdo in the show is pretty much the same as it was when she was leading the Avengers as Captain Marvel in the comics.

Woo is the one who sidetracked the conversation with some Endgame banter when Captain Marvel had noting to do with the topic.

I'm gonna say that at some point, either in this show or the next time we see Monica, she will end up with her powers. She may even try to trigger it herself by exposing herself to an infinity stone's energy. She's fully aware that both Wanda and Carol's abilities come from an Infinity stone and may seek some remnant of that energy to gain power herself.

Eventually in this phase Monica and Danvers are gonna fight over Maria's death and Monica will likely win and assume the name Captain Marvel.

I think they are gonna follow the storyline in the comics with how Danvers got her powers from Mar-vell

they just gonna do it with Danvers and Monica
with Danvers dying and passing her powers to Monica.

They said Captain Marvell will have a big role going forward....not necessarily Carol Danvers tho.

They already did: That's how Danvers in the MCU got her powers.

In the comics, Danvers got her powers while stalking Dr Walter Lawson (Captain Marvel's "human" identity) and some Kree tech he was working on exploded.
In the movie, Danvers got her powers by carrying out Dr Wendy Lawson's order to destroy the light speed engine so the Kree don't get their hands on it.

They kept some of the elements intact, switched the sex of the Kree hidden identity (Walter Lawson becomes Wendy Lawson) and it still happens via explosion of Kree tech.

I love that this is a twist that only fans know. No one in the show is even aware of the alternate marvel universe... This was a great way to get it started

Someone mentioned that Quicksilver seemed to show up as soon as Vision stopped making her happy, almost as if someone or something is trying to keep her placated to stay in the town. Very interesting
