You're talking about something different. Not being convinced and wanting evidence is one thing. Saying somebody who simply disagrees with you isn't thinking for themselves is just inaccurate. Could it be true? Yes. Could it also be true they disagree with you because they have either a different interpretation of something being said or simply facts present to them a different view than another person? Yes. To easily dismiss someone's opinion as "following the masses" or whatever else dumbass phrase "free thinkers" use is a lazy argument.
Also again people and their disdain for media sources tends to be towards that they disagree with. They dont distrust the media because they get their "facts" from there too. They distrust media that doesnt reinforce their established opinions
