2020 NFL Season Thread

Same coaches same scheme but the reason for the defense being trash is Jameis? How do you come up with this shit?

I just told you. Turnovers shift momentum, put the defense in a bad position, give the other team's offense more possessions, and don't let your defense rest.

What part of that isn't true, or what part of that doesn't negatively effect the defense?

I'm saying it's a trash comparison.

Peyton came in the league in 98.
  • 2 players threw for 4,000+ yards
  • 7 completed over 60% of their passes
  • 6 players threw at least 25 TD's
  • 10 players threw at least 15 INT's

Winston came in the league in 2015.
  • 12 players threw for 4,000+ yards
  • 26 players completed over 60% of their passss (just looking at those with one 1000 yards)
  • 14 players threw at least 25 TD's
  • 6 players (including Winston) threw at least 15 INT's
Not gonna give Winston props for putting up similar numbers in 2015 -2019 as Peyton did in 98 - 02. Apples and oranges.

I was gonna say something about that....but then I said fuck it...

Keep in mind we’re putting this within the context of Jameis on last seasons Bucs. The context you’re placing the defenses struggle is that everytime the defense was scored on it was indirectly Winston’s fault? It was directly after a Winston turnover? Every. Time.

You compared defensive rankings last year to this year. I told you a major difference, and explained how Winston was hurting the defense.

How'd you take that as every point we gave up was because of Winston?

I'm aware. That's why I told you about the personnel being the same.

Last year the defense was 15th in yards allowed, 5th in turnovers, 4th in 3rd down defense, 8th in % of red zone possessions that allowed TD's, 9th in sacks

That's what you're calling one of the worst defenses in the league. That's what poor Jameis had to play with?

But SOMEHOW that same team was 29th in points allowed. How? The QB turning the ball over 30+ times.

Points allowed is the biggest stat. All of that other stuff don’t matter.

Your mind can't be that simple. I just helped explain to you the impact Winston had on the defense. Because you said Winston had to play with a bad defense. I'm showing you the defense wasn't really bad. 3rd down defense, and red zone defense are huge. That good defense turned into lots of points allowed because of turnovers.

If your QB has the other team starting drives inside your 30 you're probably giving up points. Even in a 3 and out. That's not a reflection of bad defense just because points were given up.

I never implied that it was all the defense fault. I said it played a factor in the teams struggles last year. You implied that the issues with the defense was on Winston putting them in bad spots. Right or wrong? 3rd down defense and red zone defense is big. But again it doesn’t matter if you’re one of the worst teams in terms of points allowed. All that other shit becomes moot.

You're comparing last year to this year, and saying one difference is we had one of the worst defenses in the league last year. I let you know they have mostly the same personnel and their numbers show they were pretty good last year.

I did say a big issue for the defense was Winston fuckin up. You have to be able to think at a deeper than surface level.

Let's say a QB throws an INT brought back to the 10. Then the defense gets a sack on 1st, 2nd., and 3rd down. Then the team kicks a 45 yard field goal. That's 3 points allowed. Then let's say another team allows a 75 yard drive that ends in a FG. You're saying those defenses performed the same because they both allowed 3 points. That's why just looking at points allowed is thinking too basic. And that's how turnovers can fuck a defense.

Bucs defense suck last year and suck this year

They had a TO machine at QB last year and have a TO machine this year.

Bum ass niggas

Jameis is an anomaly and a half. Combining the good & bad of his talents along with Arians offense... The talent around him last year along with how offenses are these days. Yea the nigga threw for 5000, but honestly in this climate any QB with arm talent is capable of reaching that mark. There a lot of QBs out here that put up numbers that are false profits running around. The real issues is them turnovers can’t get around that. If he had even half the picks Tampa would of probably had a winning record and a legit playoff team last year. Jameis fucked that away tho. Add the fact that he honestly doesn’t come off as a dude who can be a real leader. He’s not complete trash, just very disappointing. If he really was that nigga he’d be starting for the Saints and lighting shit up. Yet here we are.

False profits huh?

:hahaha:

winston isnt as bad as people want him to be. the hate runs deep on this man

It's not that he can't do anything good. It's that the worst thing a QB can do is turn the ball over, and he does that at a crazy rate. Teams that lose the turnover battle are likely to lose the game.

That's also why I say he can't be a leader. Nobody wants to hear you barkin at anybody on the sideline when you're the reason the team is losing.
