I got pissed playing COD and broke my phone. I had a warranty on it so it only cost me 90 for a new phone, but I gotta wait a few weeks for it to get here. So I bought a cheap galaxy a10......Bruh
this shits like going from a Bentley to a 76 Pacer :foh5:

so, why the fuck does android NOT have something that automatically backs up texts. I searched for like 4 hours late last night only to find out that the shit that you think is supposed to do it, doesnt do shit.

The fucking google messages app doesnt even have the function and the only way it appears to backup to google drive is through a 3rd party app.

like why? Why why why do they make the easiest shit so difficult. Like this should be the bare minimum in 2020.

something told me to back my shit up...something told me and i usually listen to myself, but i was like nah, i should be able to restore it. i lost some VERY important texts. There is nothing that i found that is going to be able to recover them either. Im so pissed right now

i really hope i wont need them but got damn im so fucking pissed at myself

What kinda phone? You didn't have the backup and restore shit setup?

Like I said im on an S8 and they have options where I can either backup all of my shit to either my Samsung account(which I dont really use) or my Google Account. I believe it backs up your phone every couple of hours.. or at the very least once a day

i have it set up

it only backs up the data associated with the app. So for instance, if you have dark theme setup for an app when you do the backup, when you restore it, it will basically restore your settings but not the actual shit in the app. I looked in google drive's settings extensively and there is no specific place for you to set to back up your sms despite the very description that says you can.

edit...i found the section but it just keeps saying waiting to back up but you cant actually back it up...at this point, i've accepted those bitches are gone

luckily i sent a few of them to my attorney as shit was happening, but i've already said too much lol

i searched far and wide last night

come to find out...you cant have ANY security measures activated on your phone to backup shit to google drive. Like this is some amateur hour shit

you cant have a pin code enabled, fingerprint unlock enabled...NOTHING

as soon as i disabled all that shit...i was able to do a google drive backup

ITS TOO FUCKING LATE NOW

Im outside the US but when I go back home I'm on T-Mobile. I always get an unlocked versions to be safe.

I'm even looking for phones with dual sim slots at this point. It's a nice to have and not a need to have tho.

I see there's a International version of the Galaxy S10 on Amazon that's not too bad. I gotta look around for different models/features tho.

Well Sprint, who has merged with T-Mobile, has the A71 5G 128gb for $600 or $699.
 
i didnt think sprint was international though...but i also didnt realize the tmobile acquisition went through. I thought it got stalled and its not official but i could be wrong

sprint last i checked was still on CDMA analog, but tmobile being on GSM might offset that so you can use overseas

Went through a while back. Sprint customers received text messages the day it was official. The sales lady also mentioned it when I got my new phone. I'm not in here just blowing smoke.

oh i wasnt suggesting that you didnt know what you were talking about

my post was more about my not being in the loop. I used to keep up with it a lot when i had project Fi that runs off sprint and tmobile towers but i could no longer take the dropped calls and spotty service

I ended up switching to cricket

I don't know enough about them and haven't seen any features that would make me jump ship just yet.

I used to fuck with HTC but every single one of them eventually had charging port issues so any phone I get now absolutely has to have wireless charging.

My past few phones have been Samsung and they've all done pretty good for me. They can get that bixby shit the fuck outa here tho....
