COMMUNITY Social Justice Thread: R.I.P. George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor & now Tyre Nichols

Yeah that's a good point. What if they find a job somewhere else and repeat the same pattern?

This particular cop is retired so likely not much happens to him

But yea, most fired cops are quickly rehired by a department in a nearby town. It’s hard to find people who wanna be cops, let alone people with prior experience so it’s easy to find work.

this is why i am not falling for all these firings.
even if they got fired for being racist.....they know other racist and sympathizers that will hire them.

all this is doing is pushing them back underground but i guess i must remain hopeful in the people who hate my ass, that they will do the right thing.

we need more black cops policing our communities but they also need to understand they can not be against the community.

I musta heard the words "im/hes paralyzed about 15 times". How is it that the cops didnt hear/register it? And they didnt see the wheel chair in the back seat?

Also, now these cops will get fired, and that dude will get paid, which is all good, but its wild that the public is filming and outing them and doing the job that internal investigations should do.

this happened in 2018

the crazy thing to me is they still doing this shit.

at what point do they just be like...dude its cameras everywhere. maybe we shouldnt.

while the money is helpful....this is more of a them problem, tho.

how they think, how they act, how they treat us.
taking their pity money makes them feel they cool now and the overt racism must now go back to covert.

fractions and whole numbers

I hear you, but the people that are really committed to racism aren't giving money to the cause. At worse, it's the lukewarm people doing that and even if they aren't 100% committed to the empowerment of black people, if we are able to use their money to get policy changes that make life better for black people, then it's a win.

Honestly, it's a pointless exercise to question the sincerity of white people right now. Some of them are out there taking real arrows for this cause. If that's not enough to convince of their sincerity, then nothing is. At the end of the day, whether you believe them or not doesn't matter. All that matter is us doing what we need to do to improve the black experience in this country.
