This whole Zion for ROY of the year reminds me when Bo Jackson came in played 7 games for the Raiders and had people debating if he was worthy.

it’s not that so stfu I said this last season also

After Pop wife died, between that, the shit show in FIBA, this season I think he needs to go enjoy the rest of his life stress free

I agree about the stupid player rotations and being afraid to make midseason moves but player development has actually been pretty good. Even though I hate that Forbes is getting too many damn minutes he has gotten better from his 1st season here as well as Murray. Trey Lyles actually looks like an NBA player now. Lol.

I think a huge thing that is hurting Pop and this team is the fact that all the veteran assistants besides Becky left for promotions elsewhere. I feel that maybe if we had more veteran assistants some of them could've talked Pop out of over playing marginal players this season.

Honestly though we are missing Bertans, Aldridge and Gay's defense and overall ability looks to have taken a hit due to age also. DeRozan has played pretty well and not totally awful on defense this season. The thing that sucks about Demar is when he doesn't get foul calls he can sometimes pout and at the end of games he tends to gun and shrink under pressure

Pop has earned the right to leave whenever he wants.....but the Spurs franchise has been making very questionable decisions and moves the past few years now

They definitely dont have that same cache as an elite franchise that they used to have as this forward thinking, smart front office that develops players, spends wisely, drafts well, finds diamonds in the rough, does everything right ect

Teams like Boston, Toronto, Miami ect have passed up the Spurs in that respect

I honestly think he is gonna hang around a little longer now that his wife passed away. Or if he does stop coaching he will take some job with the Spurs organization behind the scenes.

I don't think the game has passed him by, I just think especially with our current players the locker room dynamic is different than he is used to. All the guys are good dudes but the leadership dynamic is different from the past. He has to coddle the main guys on this squad as opposed to the past. David, Tim, Tony, Manu, and even Kawhi could take hard coaching and did what needed to be done to win games. As opposed to Aldridge and DeRozan not being as good with hard coaching.

Both guys are good players and teammates but it's hard yelling at a role player for not playing defense or getting back after a missed shot when your best players don't do the same.

When I said the development thing I was really speaking to them being gun shy about Lonnie walker and murray not taking a leap but maybe I’m not being fair because of his injury and I should wait until next season to judge.

but yeah it’s crazy how many people left the spurs to go elsewhere in the last...5 years?

Murray is getting better. I think it's taking him longer due to coming off the injury like you stated but his shot is way better than it's ever been and he has gotten better with not turning the ball over.

Walker is one of those guys who you can tell Pop thinks can be really good because he is coaching him hard. Watching him play though he is still a bit raw and defer's to vets when he shares the court with them too much some times. His on ball defense has gotten better the more he plays but he sometimes gets lost on off ball defense but that has gotten better also. Offensively like I stated above he has to be more aggressive but also better at finishing at the rim. He can get to the basket pretty well but he doesn't finish as good as a guy with that type of athletic ability should.

But we were told in here that Zion deserved the ROY because he has "boosted" the Pelicans since he started playing. Strange.

Two maybe three of these guys are not going to play at all In a consistent rotation

Moore is a good player and he’s been good for y’all in the past

idk his contract as that post was assuming all are still under contract except redick but he’s a valuable role player and I don’t see why you would not keep him.
