FEATURED Kobe Bryant Killed in Helicopter Crash: Long Live the Mamba

test
Im 31, I was born into the greatness of Michael Jordan, Hakeem ect and thats when I started watching the game but I fell in love with it during the Kobe, KG, Mcgrady, Iverson, Duncan era....watching them dudes come into the league and evolve as players and people while I was doing the same was a special time

Kobe, Vince Carter, AI, Shaq and Tmac was the reason I loved ball and played as much as I did.

Always hated KG

This might not even be the thread for this but am I the only person that gets bothered by when a celebrity dies and everyone who knew him/her starts posting proof that they were friends?

Mfers be posting their pictures together, and screen shots of their last convo, behind the scenes shit, etc.

I really fucked with Melos post game interview when he told the media like yo im not about to give yall details of our friendship. We were friends beyond basketball and thats all yall need to know.

I really wish mfers would post RIP and keep it moving instead of inserting theirselves into it.

Im still in the process of trying to process this so I might just be lashing out but I felt the same way going to Nipseys thread. I would rather see mfers post like RIP you would be missed rather than, "look at me, we were friends, here a picture to prove it"

Ima stop being negative in this thread though.

I see what you're talkin about.

I mean I get why they do it. But some of it does come off as name droppish/braggadocious/one upish like "I too was PERSONAL friends of Kobe, and know more about him personally than anyone else" type feel.

When he was alive...nobody shared that. And I would assume they didn't share that outta respect for him, and keeping most of his personal connections he had wit folks private.

On the the other hand...folks who knew him wanna share who Kobe was. Pull back that curtain lil. Just to show all of us who didnt know him personally, the kinda person he was on & off the courts. It's a balance. You can kinda tell who's being genuine about it, and who's not tho.

That time Kobe welcomed Dwight to the NBA and the arena imploded...

..ok maybe the arena didn't implode. But it should've. B/c that was gonna be the only way for Dwight to erase that image from his mind. Lol

don‘t think Kobe would have done it, but Dwight was gonna ask Kobe to take part in the dunk contest with him this year.

It's not negative.

You feel how you feel an yes it is corny what people do.

I don't like wave chasers or I'm connected ass dudes.

I just hope them dudes who was about make moves with him or just seen him ass niggas stay hidden.

Just imagine being on a helicopter and you know it's going down. Then you look over and see your daughter on the same helicopter and you cant do anything to save either one of yall. Kobe's last moments were truly heartbreaking man, its sickening. I woke up this morning still in disbelief. This one hit different. He wasn’t supposed to go that way man. That beautiful angel, his daughter had a full amazing life ahead of her and in and instant it’s snuffed out. This shit ain’t fair bro...

RIP Black Mamba

This is what's hurting the most about this. Your main instinct as a parent is to protect at all costs. To know you couldn't protect your child in that moment I can't imagine that pain for those parents as the helicopter went down

back in school when we'd be juggin they'd call me Kobe sometimes cuz I stayed w/ the nappy fro lol

fast forward 15yrs later & nappy fro's are "in style"

I say that to say, jus be true to yourself

cuz it seemed the same reason some folks loved him is the same others didn't like him

if I got nothin else from Kobe (work ethic, etc.) it was being genuine
