After kd and kyrie basically said "hell no" max free agency is out. It realistically hasn't been a viable option for them since melo. They could pump fake every year but now that Brooklyn actually did what the Knicks have been saying their going to do that shits over.

No star player is signing a max deal with the Knicks.
 
We clearly need an upgrade in the backcourt. Fournier has a player option this summer which he most likely exercises due to the FA class being so week. I would look to move him + Bamba for a guard that fits next to D lo. Then double down on the position in this up and coming draft.

Players i can see becoming available that make sense include

McCullom
Dinwiddie/J.Harris
D Lo

It might cost us AG to make a deal work with the Nets who have no need for Bamba. My propasals would be

My favorite being the D Lo trade. There are multiple combinations of players/picks that we could offer. Our main competitors being the Wolves who could essentially offer an expiring Teague + Covington and picks. Shouldn't be too hard to out bid them.

Gordon/Iwundu
Isaac/Aminu
Vuc/Birch/Spellman

Thats a much more balanced team with more importantly a better offense.

He's already said he wants to be here and masai/webster alway pays up. That's the one flaw with masai and Bobby Webster. But he times the spending so theres an opening to burn it down. (Hence the young guys up to get deals, while all the vets are expiring, and theres max cap for 2021. YOUR GM'S ARE JOKING OUT HERE!!) He'd rather overpay and fleece someone in a trade later if it doesn't work out. All the while procuring young off the radar talent for cheap like fvv, davis, matt Thomas, chris Boucher getting 10+ million production for pennies.

Fred isn't going anywhere. He's nick nurse's guy.

The FA in this class aren’t gonna come in a be a piece to come in and be the bridge between the young and veteran players to create a competitive team.

Right now the knicks need to focus on culture, development, drafting, scouting and their farm team. If your g league team doesn't have at least 2 future rotation guys on it your organization is trash.

Theres no immediate fix to the Knicks problems right now. They need to heal organically.

Not sure how that happens with Dolan tho.

You've got to think bigger picture imo. Dragic can help a team that's contending not a team that's in the beginning phase of a rebuild.

At this point its all about RJs development and a veteran pg that can shoot and make plays will help with that. And next year his contract expires and then we can sign him for a low contract and hope we have a young pg that we can develop.

It dont have to be dragic though. Just anyone who can fit that mold. Right now we have RJ trying to do way too much where his only focus should be trying to get buckets.

And its not just RJ. A good pg that can manage the offense would help Frank too. Right now Frank is our best player when it comes to moving off the ball but no one can get him the ball.

Our offense right now is literally Frank brings the ball up, as soon as he gets the ball passed midcourt he gives it to either Morris or Randle and then Frank starts moving but never gets the ball back even when he is wide open with his hands up. This is literally every single play.

Not mad at Randle or Morris for not getting the ball to the right place because thats not their skill set.

The same happens with Knox, but Knox can get his own offense so its not as bad as with Frank.

So in short, I dont think Dragic or someone similar to him is the long term solution, but in the short term it will help with RJs, Franks, and Knox's development.

Your judgment is clouded by not wanting to be at the bottom. Dragic will do nothing to help that.
 
The fix for the Knicks isnt too hard.

They actually doing it now.

The front office just needs to shut the fuck up and let it happen.

We got RJ who has star potential. Then we have Knox, Frank, and Mitchel, who have potential to be good to great pieces.

We bout to end with one of the worst records, so we gonna get another top 5 pick to be RJs robin. Gonna have a 17-22 pick from the Mavs and then keep it going.

All we need is the front office to stfu and let it happen.

But these mfers wanna sign trash role players, put the ball in their hand, and then put high expectations on the team.

And now they gonna fire the coach. So RJ gonna have a 2nd coach 15-20 games into his career, Knox and Mitchell gon be on coach two in two years, and Frank gon be on coach #3 in 3 years.

Smmfh. Cant get out of our own way.

I feel you. We dont have the chips for a cp3 trade and he wouldnt wanna be here.

The best we could do is maybe get a pg in dragics tier. And dragic dont gotta teach no one, just make the right play and get the ball to the open shooter if there is one.

I know most of yall havent watched a Knicks game but the only time the offense looked halfway decent is when elfrid ran the offense. The last bunch of games we literally arent running any offense at all.

We have Morris and Randle run our offense cause Frank gives the ball up as soon as he passes midcourt. Shit is so frustrating. He got handles, he could dribble penetrate but doesnt.

Im blaming coaching for it just because but he did the same shit when he was playing in the French opening thing. Just bring the ball up and wait 5 feet away from the 3 point line till someone comes and gets it from him.

To me my only worry is not having pg play is gonna hurt RJ and the rest of kids' development.
