Now a days words like classic and legend are used too loosely. I noticed people calling rappers legends when they're really just vets. So I thought we'd make a series.

Is 50 Cent a legend or vet?

If we’re just talking about his music catalog he’s just a vet. But the impact of his presence in the industry makes him a legend in my book.

I chose vet. It could go either way, but if you say 50 is legendary, i wouldnt say its because of his music. He made/creates good music, sure, but I would consider 50 Legendary status more for how hes done business. From the Mixtapes, to causing controversy to get noticed, to making moves very quickly outside of music.

Dude released GRODT and immediately capitalized off of it like he knew his time was going to run out. Got G Unit records, distributed through interscope, release the crews Group and solo albums (that first round they ALL went platinum, even yayo), quickly jumped into movies, then started getting into all sorts of other ventures.

All the while, he was in serious beefs. First with Supreme then with Henchmen.

Dude should write a memoir series from his childhood all the way through today where hes comfortably a millionaire. Im sure each book focusing on a different decade of his life would be interesting as fuck.

His impact is too important hiphop to not be a legend. With no Fif, no banks, no game, etc. If you remove him from hiphop a lot of shit would be different, for better or for worse.

If that's all it takes then there's a lot of legends.

Banks? Really. Nigga had one hot album and that shit was dope but far from a classic.

He ain't one of my favorite rappers, but banks does have a strong cult following. Game been consistent pretty much his entire career. Not just that tho, 50 impacted the game way more than just banks b.

How?

I think is business acumen is overblown. There were dudes doing business deals, clothing line, TV/Movie, etc before 50. He was just louder than everybody else.

He do get credit for making the mixtape game what it is and has been for close to 20 years.

The mixtape impact alone makes him a legend.
