There's no point in trying to figure out where the games line up. I think it's pretty clear that the story is completely off the rails now.

Since I beat the original multiple times, I'll wait until they complete it before picking it up. After Kingdom Hearts 3 being a let down and Final Fantasy 15 being subpar, I don't trust them to deliver anymore.
Now PC version with mod support may get my interests but even then I'll wait until the Remake Complete edition is released.
