Yall have heard a wack song before anyone could ever hit a share button. It made its way to you.

I think you think I'm just talking about hiphop as it is in the now and I'm talking about its complete existence.

Correct. Im speaking on current events

I was talking about now with abw which is why I mentioned age range of 30+

Has hiphop made or influenced you to do something as a grown adult?
Not at 38 but it affected me at 18. There can be residual effects that vary person to person.

Niggas 40 talking about young Dolph? Wake the fuck up.

Lol, inori called elzo detrimental and compared him to the negativity of hip hop. And he did it without saying those words. Cold world we living in.

Elzo, dont go out like this

Yeah but it's like asking what's better for your diet a banana or a fridge?

:js4:

not understanding how you dont see them as comparable.

all that shit is consumed on our phones, easily repeatable and by you clicking it the algorithm is gonna ensure you see more of the same typa shit.

We don't consume share culture or viral tho so like @Elzo69Renaissance alluded to it was a nonsensical argument to begin with.

But irregardless of what you want to put ahead of it on your power rankings hiphop is and has been largely detrimental to blacks.

Both conversations need to be had.
We don't need hiphop anymore and people need to careless about going viral and sharing everything.
You say "irregardless"? Eww

You completely missed the part where I was talking about grown adults on this site...

I can consume various different things that go viral from hiphop to classical music. I can also go watch a viral video about a bull trampling some idiot in Italy or about a viral video about how to install brakes on a car.

Viral is a fridge, hiphop is possibly a beer you can take out of that particular fridge but you can also get water or milk. The fridge isn't actually relative to the food and drink it just holds them until you're ready to consume.

I don't enjoy embarrassing you public @Inori

lol you act like theres only ONE piece of hip hop you can consume. Your own metaphor goes against your point. Hip hop can be a fridge too nigga. Just cuz you choose to focus on the fuck shit dont mean there isnt nutritional shit in there does it?

I'm only and have only been talking about hiphop as a whole. 🤷🏿‍♂️

It's like you don't actually want to have the conversation you just want to diminish it.

Yall don't listen to or talk about all the different pieces of hiphop you can consume that are positive yall talk about the fuckshit, the beef, the shootings and mfs going to jail. So let's not pretend a different pocket of hiphop that isn't negative outweighs the negative aspects of hiphop.

Hiphop as a whole is wack. You fell for it, I fell for it and our people were worst for it then and are worst for it now. /thread

Hiphop, it’s a lot of kids only window into what’s not directly infront of them, and that view is so distorted and disturbing. To make it even worse, people that absolutely know and contribute to it, are the first ones that tell the kids it’s just music.

Not trying to diminish anything. Tryna have a conversation.

Theres sections to everything. Just like you said theres plenty of shit that goes viral that aint negative.. theres plenty of dope music within hip hop being made that aint detrimental/toxic. There always has been. But we agree the negative shit moves faster quicker.

And if we as a collective dont talk about the different positive shit in hip hop that we consume.. well maybe thats something that we as a collective need to address and try to be better about and help move THAT shit forward instead of the fuck shit

Howso? For those that think Hip Hop is doing damage to the community.. I was wondering how they felt about how sharing wild shit on social media might be doing damage and if that is comparable. Didnt think it was that big of a leap.

Your post in that passport bro thread that you said wasnt in your algorithm but was in your timeline and you came across made me think about it

Gotcha.

The current state of rap music is quite destructive to our society (i.e. Black society), but combined with social media and it poses a significantly greater threat to us as a whole. Without social media, this garbage passing as hip hop doesn't spread as fast or have the reach it currently has. The music alone is destructive, this ain't the shit I grew up with that had positive messages, afrocentricity, party joints, with a bit of hood sprinkled in. Nah, the greater focus on the shit nowadays is death, killing, crossing your peoples, doing all kinda drugs to where you're out your mind, and shit like that. Even still, without social media to push it, there's still an impact, just not as great of one.

The two go hand in hand, current rap music and social media. Combined they're a destructive force in our community.

I agree with your points but all of us knew about the tupac and biggie beef without internet or social media. I was 10. I knew I could go watch hard copy everyday to learn all about it. I'm sure there were radio shows and other television shows talking about it. That negativity spread like wildfire without all the sm and still lives strong today within it.

Yall think cause we're older we didn't get caught in a algorithm. But we did. We try to place it on the younger generation just like our parents did but they got us.

The difference is we know nearly immediately if not immediately today. Back then you had to wait for the news. Today these niggas livestream shit so you see when "da opps" roll up and perish the niggas.

^^^ That kinda shit??? We didn't have shit like that. Nothing, nada, zero, zip, zilch. Information didn't move nearly as fast as it does today. Back then, some shit happens and you gotta wait until the next Source, XXL, or Rap Pages before you even heard about it. MTV ain't even get into reporting on petty beefs or squabbles between rappers until the 2000's.

And the whole Biggie/Pac shit was overblown. East and West was showing love to each other through out the whole shit. Redman on MC Eiht joints, Method Man on Spice One, Redman and Erick Sermon on a Cypress Hill joint, Cypress Hill with The RZA and U-God... Hip Hop was making a statement "Nah, that's THEM niggas over there beefin', we straight over here". That was some manufactured beef between Bad Boy and Death Row and that's it. And that's the outlier. Rap wasn't even really like that. There were some beefs but even today I'm still hearing about rappers and groups that was beefin' and we ain't even know about it. Today you hear aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall about the shit. Every move the niggas making, callin' each other out on live, posting videos on their block, all kinda shit.

Nah b, shit ain't the same.

Lol that's my entire point. It was overblown with no internet or sm. Most people that knew about that didn't know about any of the positive things going on. 🤷🏿‍♂️
