I’m against it at 2.

I’m a outside guy and frequently take my kids out.

Don’t get me wrong. My 10 year old has his electronic devices and uses them but he rather go outside

Right now my 4 and 3 year olds knows how to use the iPad but it’s not a must for them.

They play a lot with physical toys right now which makes the house more messy but I don’t want them having so much screen time

5 is the age I would be comfortable letting them use it. More often than not all they're doing is watching people play with toys and games

Get them some damn toys. Play is very essential in a child’s learning.

I was gonna post something along these lines. Get your kids some legos and shit. Something to stimulate their creativity and helps build motor skills and whatnot.

Irritates me to no end when I see kids with a phone or tablet in hand while their parent is yammerin' with someone.

My Sun got his first tab at 3 but he loves outside because that was first for him. It's also all about balance if you introduce something like that at any young age. Too much is bad and too little mite cripple them for the future lol.

They have apps and other programs that can stimulate creativity as well. Tablets might push the kid into liking computers. Just have to balance screen time with outside time.

It's way different when it's tactile. The act of putting something together with your hands is far better at stimulating creativity in the same way that writing things down with a paper and pencil or pen is better for memory retention (i.e. taking notes). This kind of stuff has been studied quite a bit.

What's weird is these kids would rather watch a video about a kid play with the toy that you bought for them but won't touch it themselves
My 10 year use to watch kids open toys and play with them but at the same time was very active in his toy box. Same as my 4 year old.

I feel I found a wonderful balance that worked on my oldest and working on my two youngest.

Like right now we are about to walk to CVS just to be outside and soak up some sun.

Of course I can just drive but I’m telling my two youngest we are going on an adventure and they are excited

It has its pros and cons. I feel it has more cons though.
I see some people saying their children can use an educational app and it will be fine. That same shit that app is doing, a parent can be doing that with their kids. Letter recognition and sounds, number recognition and sounds, colors, sight words are all things parents can spend time teaching their kid as opposed to an app on a tablet. Two year old children need to be exploring the world AROUND them and learning from their peers and parents. Introduce them to the tablet at 5, there is no certain age where certain interest has to be piqued.

A child using a tablet does no damage to them at all. A child solely using a tablet is the issue.
