The 1st 20mins of ep1 was pretty slow and boring. They talk about David Chase parents and how Tonys mom was basically his mom.
After that it picks up and is a great watch.
They show the audition tapes. David Chase originally wanted Steven Van Zandt (Silvio) to be Tony. HBO wasnt goin for it since he never even acted before.
Gandolfini eventually had to agree to be docked 100k for every day he didnt show up to set. The actors had his back but David Chase said it was a problem. They even tried to give him an intervention.
Also none of the actors knew how it was gonna end until the finale aired. Lorraine Bracco said she watched the finale w Gandofini and when screen went black he was confused and yelled "Thats it" lol
