I used the pop the balloon clip as an example, but I've seen and dealt with this in real life too. People have just gotten necessarily rude under the guise of "being honest".Everyone on the Internet is trying to go viral. That's the first part
The second is, imo, no one wants to seem like they aren't the prize
I hate these pop the balloon videos. They are so cringe to watch. The excuses these people make just to not pick someone. The shallowness. The rudeness.
You may feel that way, but to insult her the way he did was completely uncalled for.if a woman is 38 & never been married it is a red flag imo.. her having 1 child is not a problem.
i agree. You may feel that way, but to insult her the way he did was completely uncalled for.
Why do you feel this is happening more now? Also this term has now been stolen. Not long ago, I coined the term Performative Meanness.
That's EXACTLY what it is. Performative Meanness.
It's rewarded so much more and so much more easily now. You can go on twitter, find someone who said something silly, retweet it with a smart ass, mean ass comment about how stupid they are and get ALL the attention you've been craving. Same thing with going on Pop a balloon and saying mean things to women about not being married or to men about their tight pants - the new day, you're an internet sensation for 4 days and can lap up the attention. Why do you feel this is happening more now? Totally agree and the behavior has spilled over in real life. The reason I posted this was because I was at happy hour with a friend and a guy came over to try and talk to my friend. She told dude he looks sassy because he was drinking a "woman's drink" with a straw, which was completely uncalled for. Like even if that's how you feel a simple no thank you I'm not interested would have been efficient. No need to offend his manhood...It's rewarded so much more and so much more easily now. There are so many people putting themselves out there via social media that, in turn, there are also so many people looking to get a moment by being as mean to those people as possible.
it's pretty gross.
Interesting perspective. You might be on to something Du...Everyone wants to appear more interesting than the really are, and they struggle at it so they become irritated. Which leads to them being jerks.
They be so eager to show off their wit and and how insightful they are, the inadvertently exposed that they lack those things, and any kinda modesty.Interesting perspective. You might be on to something Du...
