I was going to name the thread, Why Is The Music Industry Dominated By Males? but that's not really true. If you look at the people behind the scenes like the receptionist or the tour manager you're likely to see more females, but as far as the people on stage performing, its like 90% males.
And I'm not just talking about Hip Hop, I was trying to make a playlist of 80s female soul songs. So I went google and typed in '80s soul songs' and this is one of the first links that came up

So I went to the link and the majority of the songs on the list are either by males, or bands that are all male. There's really only a handful of female singers on that list.
Also in Hip Hop, the female MC is more of an anomaly. You could probably only name 20 female MCs, if that.
