OPINION What's The Deal With 808s & Heartbreak?

5 Grand

Old School Godfather
I remember when it came out people said it sucked.

Now people are saying that it had a big influence on current rap/Hip Hop?

Did the opinions change? I know Common had some albums that were considered weak (Electric Circus) when they dropped but people's opinions have changed.

Was 808's & Heartbreak one of those albums that wasn't appreciated at the time but sounds better in retrospect?

Fuck 808's
Couldn't believe dude did that shit. Stopped listening afterwards

Electric Circus wasn't that bad....

Universal Mind Control was bad back then... and it's still bad now

Its like with any artist ppl grow to love. They expect a certain sound time and time again. Kanye didnt do that. So while ppl hated it many others with a more open mind/taste were more likely to appreciate it.

Sonically, Kanye West's studio albums all are different....every single one of them.

With 808s in particular...I dont think people necessarily think that the production (beats) were bad...

I honestly think it was the content and the auto-tune

808s is a top 5 Kanye album

And yes it did help influence a lot of todays hip hop...especially the niggas that always be in they feelings on records
