The Watts Prophets were an early rap group. Their first album, The Black Voices: On The Streets of Watts was released under the name : The Black Voices in 1969. Their second album is called Rappin Black in a White World and came out in 1971

Their second album is only 23 minutes, but it's a solid album and worth the money. You can find it on Youtube.

They're similar to The Last Poets, but this particular song is different than anything The Last Poets ever did.

You could make the argument that they coined the term 'Rappin'.
