Basically has shit before Shady >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I used to be a big Obie fan back in the day. Dude was super nice with the bars.
The mistake Shady Records/Interscope did was making D12 and Obie release clown music as their leading singles. That shit only worked for Eminem. Second Rounds on me content-wise was far better than Cheers, just that Cheers had far better production, especially the beats Dre laced Obie with.
Obie didn't take full advantage during his time at Interscope. From the outside looking in, it was as if he depended on Eminem and/or Paul (assuming Paul managed him) to do everything for him, meanwhile, he could've been shaking and mixing with other artists within the industry to beef up his resume and brand.
Yes he got album some few mixtapes. The thing with Quan is that he was lazy. He said that Nas blackball him after Nas wanted 50% of his publishing because he said no.Yeah being down with a popular rapper isn't enough. You have to carry your own weight.
So many people got their foot in the door via a feature on a popular rapper's album (remember Quan from Just A Moment?) but didn't write complete albums and perform 5 shows per day when they had a buzz.
Did Quan ever drop an album?
What was his stuff b4 Shady.

Nah 50 is what happened
50 album came the same time as Obie and 50 ran shady aftermath for atleast 3 years
Obie was quickly forgotten
I'm not the one who said it, Obie, em and 50 said that themselves.Yes and no... he couldn't compete with 50's star power-wise, but he knew how to rap and make decent songs. The Set Up was and probably still is his biggest single radio and street-wise. That song used to get heavy play, especially where I am from (Toronto). He just had to keep collaborating with producers and artists outside of the Shady/Aftermath/G-Unit camp and remain active instead of waiting on Eminem/Paul to spoon-feed him.
Young Buck is a prime example of what I am saying, only that his downfall was drug use and financial mismanagement, and not knowing when to shut the fuck up lol. If he had his head on straight, he'd be on T.I/Pusha T status today.
