Help people remember shit...

I thinking of this Genesis game that reminded me of Zelda except it it was a birdeye view and scrolled upwards... you were a group of 4 characters bunched together and you had to shoot things out of your way to reveal power-ups and shit...

Anyone know?

Phantasy Star II, III, or IV?

Maybe Beyond Oasis?

Surely not Gauntlet 4, right?

^^^ but Gauntlet 4 does more or less match your description the best IMO.

Nah, maybe Zelda is the wrong game to compare it to, because it played more like Xevious or another vertical scrolling shooter except your characters were rpg characters in a square formation...

My cousin used to own this game and when I bring it up to him he has no idea what I'm talking about...

gotta think about this one. I can usually figure out 16 bit games. Shit, you gonna fuck around and have me pull Fusion onto this machine with every Genesis game made to figure it out.

Lol, yeah I can usually figure it out but this one eludes me to this day... shit bothers me that I can't find a shred of evidence this game existed but I remember it so clearly...

Nah... it's a vertical scrolling shooter which means the screen is moving steadily in one direction the entire time and you can move you character(s) around like you're flying...

Do you remember the storyline or characters?

Let me see... it wasn't my game so let me see how much I remember...

It was a vertical scrolling shooter with role playing elements... medieval setting...

The characters were typical rpg archetypes like the knight, the mage or wizard, etc... but you had a bird's eye view of the characters as they drifted over the landscape...

I remember the character looking kind of cartoony, like cherubs...

The first level is a forest type of level... you shoot trees and enemies to reveal power-ups...

If you didn't start the game immediately it showed a preview of a later level which was a lava level...

I believe you start off as one or two characters and get up to four as you progress... then, you fly around in a square formation...

Like I said before, I've been searching for this game for awhile so it has to be somewhat obscure... it was released sometime in the 90s... it was for either the master system or genesis as I would go to my cousin's to play it (he had a sega before I did)...

That's all I got...

I got another one... i wanna say it was a nes game... played it at another cousin's house lol...

Your character was a red guy with a motorcycle helmet on or some shit (It's not Narc) they would have a side-scrolling segment kinda like Castlevania (it's not Narc, I swear)... I wanna say your character was supposed to be a secret agent...

Then you'd get to a part where you're in some kind of office building and it switches to first person... you're trying to find something in different rooms, but we were stumped back in the day and couldn't never pass this part...
